Job Description Qualifications:

Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS) is seeking a Systems Engineering Manager in support of Airworthiness Certification for the Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) USAF E-7A Rapid Prototype program in Oklahoma City, OK.

This position is within the Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) Capability of Mobility, Surveillance, and Bombers (MS&B). This role supports Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) and Military Commercial Derivative Aircraft (MCDA) airworthiness at different phases of the modification lifecycle to ensure execution and technical rigor for the product.

The E-7A is the world’s most advanced, capable, and reliable AEW&C platform, having proven itself in operations around the world. The aircraft is designed to track multiple airborne and maritime targets simultaneously. It provides situational awareness and can direct other assets such as fighters and warships.  The USAF E-7A Rapid Prototype program add new and evolving capabilities and delivers a critical capability to the United States.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Executes the product development efforts in accordance with the MS&B and FAA MCDA Airworthiness Certification processes.
  • Directly coordinates with internal program leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Provides essential leadership to maintain and grow technical excellence in the Airworthiness Certification.
  • Works with the program and engineering functional capabilities to ensure execution in alignment with standard processes.
  • Establishes a culture of proactive technical guidance, risk management and rapid issue resolution, providing alternative paths for issue resolution and an open dialogue on technical issues.
  • Implements and enforces engineering functional excellence in people, processes, tools, and practices; drive productivity improvements through the use of the lean principles’ disciplines; and share best practices and lessons learned.
  • Cost Account Management.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and individual contributors.
  • Manages, develops, and motivates individual contributors.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 1+ year of experience with FAA or EASA MCDS (Military Commercial Derivative Aircraft) or STC (Supplemental Type Certificates) projects.
  • 3+ years of experience leading or managing an engineering project or team.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in system integration, verification, and FAA MCDA airworthiness certification.
  • Experience in engineering of large-scale systems and overall systems engineering disciplines.
  • Experience working with AEW&C aircraft, AWACS aircraft, or command and control aircraft platform.
  • Experience in military aircraft modification programs.
  • Ability to adjust priorities to multiple demands and unanticipated events.
  • Highly motivated and must work well in a team environment.
  • The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
