The Fixed Assets Clerk is responsible for assisting the Fixed Asset Supervisor with maintaining the company’s fixed assets.  This position is accountable for assisting with recording the cost of newly acquired fixed assets, tracking existing fixed assets, recording depreciation, and accounting for the disposition of fixed assets.  

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist with coding purchase order workflow to the proper General Ledger accounts.
  • Assist with maintaining all fixed asset ledgers
  • Assist with recording fixed asset acquisitions and disposals for the company’s large rolling stock fleet
  • Assist the maintenance department with unit number assignments and coding
  • Assist with monitoring and tracking IT project costs and status with other departments
  • Assist with the completion of monthly roll forward schedules, journal entries and reconciliations
  • Assist with documenting depreciation expense, gain/loss on disposal of assets, capitalized interest, internal labor, and closing adjustments.

Job Qualifications

Education:

  • Associate’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred

Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in accounting
  • Attention to detail
  • Well organized and able to manage multiple tasks at once
  • Proficient with Excel spreadsheets and ERP systems (SAP preferred)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
