What impact you’ll make

As the Region Customs Operations Leader, you will be responsible for developing and implementing the Customs operations (execution and strategy) in the Europe region for the supported businesses. You will lead the regional team in the execution of import and export Customs operations.

The Customs Operations department is a team of experts delivering import and export operations management for supported businesses by driving execution of the Customs processes and GE Vernova policies.

Job Description

What you’ll do

• Develop and implement strategy for Customs operations in the region

• Partner with approved agents & BPO to support daily import/export clearances and own shipment issue resolution

• Partner with logistics, sourcing, fulfillment, ITO to provide Customs expertise

• Special program opportunity identification & daily execution

• Lead entry level compliance audits and broker invoice audits to ensure control

• Participate in Biz QBRs with agents to address their areas of concern.

• Respond to Internal/External requests & investigations

• Manage TSA Pre-close and post-close tasks.

• Active participation on all training

• Active participation on mandatory EHS trainings and events.

• Follow EHS rules and warn others to follow the rules.

• Immediately report the incidents and near misses to the direct reports and EHS dept.

• Immediately shut down the operation when realized life or serious injury risk present.

• Further tasks not involved in this Job Description that the immediate leader/manager assigns with verbally or in writing.

• Ensure trained personnel are supporting the Customs activities in the region

• Manage local Customs agency relationship (government)

• Report operational performance metrics on duty, quality, savings, opportunities, risks, accomplishments and value creation

What you’ll bring (Basic Qualifications)

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college with major experience in customs processes

• Fluent in Hungarian and English (verbal and written) - French language is a plus

• Strong People Leader Experience

• Ability to travel with region and occasionally globally

• Advanced degree from accredited university

• Demonstrated ability to use knowledge, experience, and instinct to make accurate and timely decisions

• Demonstrated ability of working with all levels of internal and external organizations

• Experience in working with global teams and demonstrates a global mindset

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
