The Director, IT Data Strategy and Analytics leads the design and  implementation of business intelligence and analytics solutions and strategies. This professional will work with the business on reporting and analytics needs, then partner with the director of data enablement and operations to deliver data assets to the business to meet those needs.  The individual will be a data advocate to the business, educating them on the “art of the possible”.  They will be responsible for partnering with the VP of Data & Digital to create a strategic roadmap ultimately enabling a to a data driven organization.

Core Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain and support the data strategy working with data leadership team.
  • Create strong business relationships.
  • Work with the business to design a scalable data asset to meet all of the reporting and analytics needs short term and long term.
  • Participate in addressing enterprise-wide platform and technology requirements for data solutions as well as educate the business on the art of the possible.
  • Create best practices for business analysis, design, DITL, and UAT testing for data assets. 
  • Create and deploy good communication plans for programs – especially for soliciting information from the business and/or other members of the IT group
  • Enable generative AI data assets and Machine Learning models to drive predictive/prescriptive analytics with the business.
  • Support all analytics needs for the ERP program – working closely with the business to gather an inventory of the current reports, rationalize those reports by domain, and recommend a future solution following the 60/30/10 (60% Enterprise, 30% Business Unit, 10% Local) and 80/15/5 principals (80% self service, 15% reports/dashboards, and 5% direct data lakehouse access for ai/ml scripts)
  • Excel in a fast past environment, while providing a high level of quality and control.  Provide thought leadership and a vision for the future of data while providing a scalable platform for speed and efficiency.
  • Work closely with business SME personnel to develop and maintain a functional understanding and documentation of the business use of applications and what processes have been developed against the data and functions associated with those applications as well as any data challenges that may exist. 
  • Lead and/or participate in requirement gathering and issue resolution meetings with technical and business resources.  Be able to create business requirements definition, functional, system design and technical specifications that are detailed, complete and in compliance with Xylem’s IT standards.
  • Use existing or seek out emerging industry practices when solving business problems.
  • Conduct training as you deploy data assets
  • Create and deploy a strong change management plan
  • Ensures compliance of government or regulatory standards (SOX, PCI, internal audit, external audit, etc.).
  • Accountable and responsible for collaborating with our business-facing teams for Operations across all Xylem’s sites.
  • Engage with the ERP team handle governance, planning, acquisition, development, and delivery of new and existing data capabilities in ERP.
  • Partner with the IT, Enterprise Digital Strategy Director and other digital leaders to be a thought leader, helping to drive Xylem’s digital innovation ambitions.  Align data strategies and roadmaps to enable digital initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree and 4 years of Information Systems experience; OR Master’s degree and 8 years of Information Systems experience; or Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of Information Systems experience.
  • Data Strategy Development Experience
  • Data Fabric (ETL/ELT, Lake, Warehouse, BI) Design Experience
  • Project and product management
  • Business Analyst Experience
  • AI/ML & Data Science Experience a plus
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to interact with users of varying levels of technological understanding.
  • Strong documentation skills.
  • Possesses good time management skills and has the ability to self-manage support/issue priorities.
  • Ability to prioritize, lead, and direct multi-functional teams to address and solve technical and business issues.
  • PowerBI experience highly preferred

Technical Knowledge

  • 10 or more years of experience in the deploying and supporting of complex solutions using data technologies.
  • Power BI experience a plus
  • Experience bringing data from many diverse systems including many ERPs
  • Experience working effectively in a globally dispersed team environment.
  • Leadership and accountability to maintain relationships with peers and customers.
  • Experience in people management, talent development and performance management.
  • Experience in resource and performance management.
  • Management experience in all aspects of an information systems environment.
  • Demonstrable ability to coordinate or lead multiple projects and activities with relevant priorities.
  • Understand service models and prioritization based on impacts on business operations.

The estimated salary range for this position is $175,000-$200,000 plus bonus.   Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range
