Position Specific Responsibilities

The Senior Business Development Manager will be expected to deliver Business Development Excellence by role modelling effective business development techniques, ensuring quality and mutually beneficial partnerships.

As the Senior Business Development Manager, you will work within a team of professionals responsible for generating high quality home lending opportunities for Home Lenders through the Workplace & Employee Banking Program. You will have extensive knowledge in lending and strong capabilities in stakeholder management.

You will generate these new business opportunities through supporting your peers/lenders in establishing and managing corporate partnerships through Workplace & Employee Banking Program.

Your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Play an integral part in identifying, nurturing, and developing our business.
  • Driving an operational culture of continuous improvement.
  • From a retail perspective, the team also plays a key role in generating visibility for the ‘Commonwealth Bank’ brand in the marketplace.
  • Meet with prospective and existing clients to build deep relationships and pitch Commbanks benefits to offer to their employees.
  • Strategically co-ordinate and execute how we best launch the workplace banking benefits to the partnered organization
  • Maintain ongoing and trustworthy relationships with all clients within the portfolio
  • Maintain ongoing, trustworthy and beneficial relationships with key internal stakeholders.

The Senior Business Development Manager will be expected to deliver on the following key areas:

  • Critical Stakeholder Management by developing and maintaining relationships with Lenders and their Managers within Institutional Banking, Corporate Banking, Private, Premier, Mobile, Business Banking and Branch customer segments. Consistently displaying behaviours that encourage transparent and productive working relationships and a high-performance culture.
  • Business Strategy by identifying and implementing areas of growth and improvement within your portfolio. Contribute to the annual strategic planning process for your state and review business performance and identify value creation opportunities for not only your portfolio but your team.
  • Risk Management by assessing and identifying potential risks that may hinder the reputation, safety, security, and financial prosperity of the Commonwealth Bank. Adhere to compliance and risk standards of the Home Loan Referral Source and Wellbeing Programs.

Your key relationships will comprise of:

  • Institutional Banking and their companies
  • Your immediate peers throughout Australia.
  • Customer Service Network & Mobile Premier Banking Leadership Team.
  • Other internal departments including Corporate Bank, Business Banking and Private.

  • Proven ability to source, establish and manage relationships with external business partners to generate high volumes of business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated capability and experience in business development manager roles.
  • Expertise in establishing and maintaining relationships with strategic business partners and developing mutually beneficial relationships.
  • Strong lending background
  • Proven ability in creating and designing new content for stakeholders and customers.
  • Technology Skills for navigating and applying Bank systems.
  • Relevant financial services experience or a business-related degree (economics, marketing, finance, business).
