Position overview
Alarm.com is looking for an experienced compensation professional to design, develop, and execute compensation programs. The ideal candidate should have a strong investigative and analytical mindset, understanding of compensation and market trends, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment delivering against tight deadlines. This position is located at our HQ in Tysons, VA.
Responsibilities
- Perform deep analysis on effectiveness and competitiveness of existing compensation programs and model potential impact of alternatives
- Develop creative compensation solutions that are designed around corporate objectives and informed by market trends
- Manage direct compensation programs (base, incentive, commissions, equity)
- Serve as the SME, trusted partner and adviser on all compensation related matters including equity, sales compensation, and commission
- Consult with HR Business Partners on a regular basis, providing expert compensation guidance and recommendations
- Lead our annual merit cycle planning and process including determining the company merit and incentive budget in partnership with Finance, as well as recommending appropriate comp planning tools
- Assist with the design, analysis, and implementation of equity compensation programs
- Oversee the participation in compensation surveys, monitor survey data and create benchmarking models to illustrate trends and ensure corporate compensation objectives are achieved
- Deliver expert compensation consulting, develop proposals and presentations about compensation programs (including market data and appropriate pay levels/targets) to influence and educate senior level decision-makers including the Compensation Committee/Board
- Conduct job evaluations using market data and internal evaluation and regularly analyze our market position on jobs
- Research and formulate recommendations on external and internal employment offers, job leveling, and internal equity adjustments
- Draft plans, educational materials, and communications designed to provide stakeholders with timely and accurate information regarding compensation initiatives
- Manage job descriptions, including auditing jobs for content and preparing job descriptions reflecting job responsibilities and requirements, as needed. Ensure all positions are classified appropriately according to FLSA
- Audit and analyze internal compensation practices in relation to relevant regulations. Develop recommendations for corrective actions as needed. Provide compliance consultation to HR and your business clients
- Drive consistency in compensation planning, program administration, performance cycles and comp program automation projects
- Work on a variety ad hoc special compensation projects as needed
- Provide analytical support and thought partnership for strategic compensation projects, key initiatives or processes and provide exceptional customer support to clients across the organization
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Experience in compensation in a high tech, or high growth environments
- At least 3 years of experience building models and conducting data analysis, data modeling
- Extremely strong analytical and quantitative skills and a track record for planning, delivering, and auditing work
- Demonstrated ability to achieve program success and navigate globally distributed teams with influence rather than authority
- Experience in change management and change leadership. Ability to navigate through ambiguity
- Highly collaborative and consultative approach to business partnership
- Experience with complex and global organizations
- Background in sales operations, finance or HR and knowledge of human resources and compensation including knowledge of relevant Federal, State, Local laws/regulations relating to compensation
- Advanced excel skills (VBA, macros, array functions)
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills for internal presentations that demonstrate business acumen
- Ability to work independently in an ambiguous, fast-paced, and rapidly changing environment, with all levels of employees in the organization
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business administration, Economics, Finance, Data Science, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Human Resources, or other related field highly preferred
- Certified Compensation Professional (CCP)
- Global Compensation Experience
- Experience with Workday
