What You Will Achieve
This position will be an integral part of building out a world-class Program Management Office team to support the execution of capital facility and real estate projects for Pfizer on a global scale. As a Senior Associate, your knowledge and skills will contribute towards the goals and objectives of the team. Your focus and ability to meet team targets will help in completing critical deliverables. Your innovative use of communication tools and techniques will facilitate in explaining difficult issues and establishing consensus between cross-functional teams. This position reports to the Program Management Office Lead, Global Workplace Experience.
This role will directly support the PMO Lead in the effort of improving the overall program and operational priorities and goals, establish best practices, project management governance, and leverage new Program Management Tools to set program & project budgets as well as project to portfolio dashboards to that track project delivery performance against set goals.
This role will be responsible for overseeing and managing project controls function for projects in a large (upwards of $250M) capital portfolio within Pfizer. This role involves refining, implementing, and maintaining project control processes, systems, and tools to ensure effective planning, monitoring, and control of all capital project activities. As the Program Controls & Systems Lead, you and your team will work closely with the Project Management teams to drive project success through consistent and transparent management and reporting of cost, schedule, scope, and risks.
How You Will Achieve It
Implement Project Control Strategies, Systems & Tools
Implement project controls strategies and methodologies to support program objectives and deliverables including project controls system and tools to enhance project performance, efficiency, and productivity
Provide and administer guidelines and best practices for cost management, scheduling, risk assessment, and change control processes.
Provide guidance and tools to project management teams to recognize emerging issues, leverage lessons learned
Create toolset and process adoption to ensure reporting accuracy of project, program and portfolio Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
Ensure all work and outputs are executed to meet project and program standards and objectives.
Review baseline budgets and schedules, tracking of KPIs for timely and on budget project delivery.
Enhance the development of Capital Projects Appropriation (CPA) procedures
Work with Program Managers to continuously innovate on progressive, efficient, effective and consistent project delivery (processes and tools)
Ensure integration of project controls systems with other program management and Pfizer tools and processes
Support projects through their lifecycle and assist navigation through the stage gate and PMO best practice framework.
Monitor GWE capital portfolio performance monthly at a minimum
Observe change control procedures, oversee change request evaluation, and manage project change implementation
Oversee the management of the progression of the capital portfolio schedule throughout each of the projects’ lifecycle
Oversees contributions to the Baseline Schedule
Manage the administrative procedures relating to Schedule updates
Work with Portfolio Optimization & Design Team to enhance PMO integration during the annual capital planning (including streamlined capital project intake consolidation)
Lead cost estimation oversight, budget development, cost tracking activities and benchmarking at the project and reporting at the portfolio level
Support in the development of project sustainability requirement tracking tool
Project and Portfolio Reporting, Tracking and Analysis
Work alongside with GWE Business Performance & Operations Team to develop and implement capital project and portfolio financial, schedule and risk reporting and other project data insights that will enable business decisions.
Conducts detailed review and analysis of project performance control and reporting to understand and articulate key metrics and other project trends
Ensure management is provided with timeline review and progress of all projects and activity including completion of monthly project status reports, forecast reporting and recommend corrective actions to maintain and achieve project progress as planned.
Ensures that tracking and forecasting, progress monitoring, cost reporting meet specific project requirements and aligns with GWE and Pfizer reporting requirements
Reviews and submits all project controls reporting to Project Management Leadership Team and GWE Leadership Team
Prepare regular project controls report, dashboards, and performance metrics and portfolio reporting for program management and corporate review
Ensures the preparation and updating of project cash flows and forecasting as required throughout the project lifecycle as set by Pfizer’s finance reporting cadence
Oversee project schedules, critical path, milestone tracking mechanisms, and time impact analysis
Monitor project progress against schedules, identify schedule risks, and implement schedule optimization strategies.
Risk Management
Work alongside GWE Business Risk Management team to understand and align capital project execution goals and risk management strategies and processes
Provide tools for tracking project teams to efficiently and consistently report project risks and planned mitigations
Monitor project risks, track risk registers, and ensure timely response to emerging risks.
Develop Lessons Learned database
Identify opportunities of Project Controls improvement for management review and consideration
Stakeholder, Leadership and Team Engagement
Collaborate with project managers, team members, and stakeholders to ensure alignment on project controls processes and outcomes.
Communicate project controls strategies, progress updates, and performance insights to key stakeholders and leadership teams.
Communicates with external clients, client groups and partners, vendors and subcontractors as required
Provide leadership and oversight to the project controls team consisting of both cost and schedule management teams, ensuring alignment with program goals and objectives.
Works closely with cross-functional teams to ensure corporate policies and standards are embedded in the PMO processes and procedures.
Mentor team members, foster a culture of continuous improvement, with training and innovative tools
Manage own time to meet agreed targets, develops plans for activities on own projects.
Qualifications
Must-Have
Bachelor’s degree in business or finance, Construction Management, or equivalent
AND 5+ years construction industry with progressing project controls experience
Proficiency in project controls software and tool (e.g., Primavera P6, SmartSheet, Advanced Excel, MS Suite, SAP, Procore, or equivalent project management information system (PMIS), etc.).
Strong analytical, communication, writing, presentation, and leadership skills
Proven experience and ability in leading the development project controls platforms, tools and dashboards including Power BI or equivalent
Proven experience and ability in planning, scheduling, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, estimating and cost control
Strong knowledge of the “Earned Value Management” principles
Ability to produce, read and modify schedules and scheduling curves/reports
Natural leader and team builder who can build strong relationships quickly
Proven ability to effectively lead project controls staff including cost controllers, project schedule controllers and other project administrative staff
Proven strong analytical skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly identify and articulate issues
Proven problem solver with sound judgment who accepts ownership and accountability

Approximately 20-25% travel is expected.
