Job Summary:

The Capacity and Labor Management Manager is responsible for optimizing workforce utilization and ensuring that labor resources align with the organization's operational demands. This role involves planning, forecasting, and analyzing labor capacity to meet production goals, while maintaining cost efficiency and compliance with labor regulations. The Manager will collaborate with various departments to develop strategies that enhance productivity, streamline operations, and support the organization’s overall performance objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Capacity Planning:

  • Analyze current and future labor capacity requirements based on production schedules, sales forecasts, and operational needs.
  • Develop and implement capacity planning models to ensure adequate staffing levels to meet business demands.
  • Monitor and adjust labor capacity plans to accommodate changes in production volumes, new product launches, or other operational shifts.

Labor Forecasting:

  • Create accurate labor forecasts using historical data, trend analysis, and predictive modeling techniques.
  • Collaborate with department managers to align labor forecasts with production schedules and business goals.
  • Continuously refine forecasting methods to improve accuracy and responsiveness to changing conditions.

Resource Allocation:

  • Optimize the allocation of labor resources across various departments and shifts to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  • Identify and address labor shortages or surpluses, and implement strategies to balance workforce distribution.
  • Coordinate with HR and recruitment teams to ensure timely hiring and onboarding of new employees.

Cost Management:

  • Monitor labor costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction without compromising quality or productivity.
  • Develop and implement labor cost control measures, such as overtime management and efficient scheduling practices.
  • Provide regular reports on labor cost performance and recommend corrective actions as needed.

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, regulations, and company policies related to workforce management.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of labor capacity plans, forecasts, and related documentation.
  • Prepare and present reports on capacity and labor management metrics to senior management and other stakeholders.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance labor utilization, reduce waste, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows and eliminate bottlenecks.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in capacity and labor management.

Training and Development:

  • Provide training and support to managers and supervisors on effective labor management practices.
  • Develop and deliver workshops or training sessions on capacity planning, labor forecasting, and resource allocation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in capacity planning, labor management, workforce planning, or a similar role.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and develop actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in workforce management software and tools, as well as Microsoft Excel, SQL and other data analysis applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Knowledge of labor laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

At BJ’s Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is starting from $109,000.00.
