Position Title: HR MANAGER/ BUSINESS PARTNER
Location: Tulsa, OK

This HR Manager position will focus primarily on providing customer-centric HR consulting support within the Region. Heavy emphasis is placed on employee relations and other activities which include: recruitment; employee development; compensation, and compliance.

In particular, you will: 

  • Provides guidance and support to line management on the human resource implications of management decisions to ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulations and corporate policies, procedures and guiding principles.

  • Assists employees in the interpretation of the corporation’s various benefit programs to achieve an effective employee utilization and understanding of all such programs, including coordinating with Division HR support.   

  • Conducts investigations based on workplace complaints received or identified, and recommends appropriate resolution through the interpretation and fair application of company personnel policies, procedures and guiding principles thereby ensuring an effective employer/employee relationship is maintained. 

  • Facilitates employee development through the identification of training needs, career counseling, and by conducting selected training programs that provide continuous development of all employees to meet current and projected manpower/skill requirements. 

  • Provides assistance to management with recruiting needs.  Coordinates with Staffing Specialists to post positions, and assists hiring managers in candidate screenings and interviews as necessary. Represents the company at local career fairs and identifies partnerships with educational institutions and other workforce resources to generate a candidate interest.

  • Ensures proper on-boarding of new employees with regards to company policies, procedures and benefits. Conducts new hire orientation as scheduled.

  • Counsels line management on compensation issues regarding employment offers, merit increases, and both commission and bonus programs necessary to continue to attract, retain and motivate employees.

  • Ensures proper authorization for all employee changes, in advance, from both line and senior management prior to having them processed.

  • Handles termination process for assigned area including exit interviews; submission of required documentation to HRMS administrator; benefit termination notices, processing of unemployment claims (i.e., providing separation documentation to company’s third party vendor), and attendance at unemployment hearings as required. 

  • General HR acquisition and organizational restructuring support  (new hire orientations, offer letters, employment documentation, etc.)

  • Develops and/or manages special projects on an assigned basis to enhance employee communications, training, benefits knowledge and the awareness of corporate policies, procedures and guiding principles.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and 3-5 years of business experience in Human Resources 

  • SPHR certification preferred 

  • Experience in a multi-state distribution/retail organization desired

  • Prior Cylinder Gas business experience desired but not required

  • Must be able to clearly and concisely articulate prior work experience and accomplishments, both in or out of school, to adequately demonstrate capabilities to take on this position, and to grow into future more responsible roles.  

  • Proven change management skills, including building sponsorship, communications, and stakeholder management.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to travel 20%-30% of time throughout assigned area or the region (Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, W. TN, N. LA, N. MS, East TX)

  • Must have reliable, appropriate transportation to do field work

COMPUTER SKILLSIntermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as regulations, safety rules and procedure manuals

  • Ability to write routine reports and electronic correspondence 

  • Ability to effectively communicate information to all levels of management and associates.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

  • Must be a perceptive, high energy and outgoing person capable of professionally relating to individuals at all levels within the organization and especially senior managers

  • Must be able to balance assertiveness and decisiveness when dealing with senior management

  • Must have ability to work in a team oriented environment with the capability of identifying and solving problems, and maintaining confidential information

  • Must have ability to deal with internal and external customers and ensure compliance with fair employment practices

  • Must be able to perform multiple tasks in a timely, courteous and professional manner

  • Must have a customer-centric focus

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:  Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, salaries and other compensation figures

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
