The Work

The Setup Operations team is at the heart of partner success, guiding new customers through their first payroll run with Check’s partners. This critical work demands precision, professionalism, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service that drives partner success and company growth.

As Setup Operations Manager, you’ll be in charge of scaling processes, enhancing customer engagement, and optimizing partner implementations. You’ll own key operational and cross-functional initiatives, build and inspire a high-performing team, and manage complex projects that drive innovation and accelerate company growth.

In this role, you will:

  • Advocate for Partners: Champion partner needs in company-level strategic conversations and decisions.
  • Drive Continuous Process Improvement: Refine processes, documentation, and tools to enhance team efficiency and scalability while maintaining a high bar for quality.
  • Champion Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal teams (Partner Success, Product, Engineering) to streamline workflows and enhance the partner setup experience.
  • Foster a Feedback-Driven Culture: Encourage continuous, constructive feedback and coaching to unlock individual and team growth.
  • Enhance Engagement: Develop strategies to improve partner and customer engagement, ensuring seamless onboarding and successful payroll implementations.
  • Optimize Operational Efficiency: Monitor and improve team performance against key metrics, ensuring SLAs are met and operational goals are achieved.
  • Resolve Complex Issues: Lead the resolution of complex payroll scenarios, serving as an escalation point for both the team and customers.

  • Strategic mindset, passionate about scaling operations and optimizing processes to deliver solutions that align with company-wide objectives.
  • Data-driven decision maker, using insights and metrics to measure success, refine strategies, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Empathetic leader and communicator, excelling in project management by prioritizing and delivering complex projects on time, while fostering collaboration and building strong relationships across teams.
  • Partner-focused, committed to providing an exceptional, seamless experience for partners and ensuring their success throughout the implementation process.

We expect all employees to attend our annual 3-day company retreat in the fall.

For our in-office and hybrid employees, our offices are open all week. We provide meals on Tuesdays and Thursdays and the team hosts regular happy hours, game nights, etc.
