Tournament Services Intern for the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches. This internship will support the tournament staff and will play an integral role in the event’s success. This position will give the candidate an opportunity to gain valuable experience in a professional sports organization and live events industry.

The work environment is very busy, demanding long hours closer to the event, but interns gain valuable experience in the fields of sports marketing and event management.

Internship Dates:

  • Flexible: December 2024 – March 2025
  • Hours:  20-30 hours a week. Hours will increase leading up to and during tournament week. 

Compensation: $13.00 / hour + overtime when applicable

Job Description:

  • Event pre-planning & logistics for special events

  • Responsible for inventory, storage and organization of all tournament apparel, gifts, etc.

  • Help facilitate set up of Hospitality Suites – furniture, publications, client supplies, etc.

  • Manage Corporate Hospitality email account

  • Send shared hospitality newsletters with pertinent tournament information

  • Update volunteer and hospitality manuals

  • Submit credential orders and comp ticket requests

  • Support volunteer program and manage Tournament Office committee

  • Coordinate staff lunches during Advance Week

  • Assist with general administrative work including answering phones, purchasing, billing, office supply inventory and other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree or currently enrolled as a graduate or senior undergraduate student with May 2025 graduation date

  • Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

Skill Set Requirements

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Must take initiative in project management and problem solving

  • Capacity to address multiple tasks simultaneously and remain composed under pressure

  • Organization, attention to detail, and time management

  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, clients, vendors and general public

  • Some medium lifting and labor is required

Computer skills

  • Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

General info/Requirements

  • Eligible to work in the United States.  International applicants must have all visas and employment authorizations prior to the start of internship.

  • Any employee scheduled to work more than 30 days will be required to successfully complete a drug screen as well as criminal background check.
