You will be a core member of the successful and fast-growing Valuation & Portfolio Monitoring team and will play a key role in the evaluation and assessment of various portfolios of assets. You will gain experience in private markets and highly structured investment transactions across the capital structure across multi-products.
Position Summary
The Investment Office plays the central function for deal support, portfolio monitoring, and valuation for the private equity and other asset classes of ICG.
This role based in Warsaw is to work as part core valuations team between London and Warsaw to oversee the valuation process deal by deal. This is achieved by working closely with the deal executives to review portfolio information and models, to constructively challenge the valuation assessment, ensure accuracy and fairness and, manage the audit process to ensure a robust and efficient outcome.
With attention to detail and a hands-on approach, the individual would be expected to manage the current valuation process across multiple products and support the quarterly portfolio monitoring process through the systems.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and a collaborative approach are required as the role involves close interactions with all colleagues, notably with the deal teams, senior management, finance and funds operations, and IT. The position provides good insight of investment portfolio performance and management.
Primary Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
Valuation and Quarterly Portfolio Review (QPR)
Review and constructively challenge individual valuation assessments and techniques to ensure consistency and compliance with the valuation policy, and uphold the overall quality standard
Drive valuations best practices through the QPR process
Support to plan and manage the overall QPR process and timeline; coordinate and manage the various stakeholders, notably the deal executives and finance teams for input, also the finance teams for output distribution
Assist in managing the audit procedures for both ICG PLC and ICG-managed funds around valuation i.e., answering to auditors’ questions and ensuring all back up documents are ready
Process and System Improvement
Stay on top of technical developments in relevant valuation guidance and practices and continue to seek improvements to internal valuation policies and procedures
Steer and contribute to the transformation projects to improve systems/ processes for portfolio monitoring and valuation
Portfolio Monitoring and Deal Support
Manage the information gathering, update, and monitoring of relevant metrics for deals, and perform analyses to derive insights
Key Requirements/ Qualifications
Ideally you will have an accounting qualification with at least five years post qualification and demonstrate the following:
Strong technical valuation skills including understanding of the income and market approaches (CCA and CTA)
Experience with private equity, debt investments and real assets
Solid accounting/ audit experience with a good commercial sense
Excellent with Excel and ideally some experience with financial modelling (e.g., discounted cashflow)
Knowledge of commonly used research databases including Capital IQ
Attention to detail and a hands-on approach
Proactive and well organised, managing multiple tasks with priority
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Data analytical skills such as Power Query, Power Pivot, Power BI would be a plus
