Job Description:
As a Research Scientist, you will develop new and innovative products and manufacturing processes to meet customer’ needs. You will modify existing products and processes to improve overall quality or costs. You will develop or identify new or more cost-effective ingredients and production methods. You'll support contract manufacturing customers on projects, trials and startups.
This position is located at our Home Office in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

What you'll do:
- Develop and commercialize new products & processes to meet our customer needs.
- Develop defined work plans, conduct experiments, and write reports. Utilize the R&D product development SOP in all development efforts.
- Plan and conduct scale-up trials at a customer's request or for Schreiber product development.
- Work in production and pilot plant locations.
- Work cross-functionally with Customers, Product Strategies, Sales, Sourcing, Enterprise Quality, Engineering, R&D Scientists and Operations to successfully commercialize new products.
- Develop a good understanding of Schreiber Foods product categories, including regulatory standards and Schreiber Foods labeling practices.
- Develop a high level of expertise in yogurt and cream cheese product categories.
- Become intimately involved in new ingredient and formula set-up by developing specifications, plant production SOP manuals, production manuals, and formula guidelines.
- Identify, explore, and implement the use of new ingredients and manufacturing technologies to improve efficiency, sales, and profitability of Schreiber Foods.
- Develop products, processes, and technology that are robust and use sound experimental design to validate.
- Apply scientific principles and understandings to evaluate ideas and opportunities. Maintain strong application of scientific method.
- Exercise excellent listening and communication skills, such as conveying technical concepts to others, writing detailed technical reports, and effectively conducting presentations to inform and influence decisions of others.
- Develop and expand global network of contacts within food & dairy industries, and academia.
- Apply good business sense to determine applicability to our businesses.
What you need to succeed:
- Bachelor's degree in food/dairy science or a related field.
- 5+ years' experience in research and/or product development.
- Cultured dairy products manufacturing experience preferred.
- Strong analytical and dairy component understanding.
- Desire to grow and take on new challenges and opportunities.
- Ability to travel up to 25%, to include within and potentially outside of the US
- Good communication skills, both written & verbal are required for this role.
