Pharmacy Technician Regulatory – Controlled Substances Diversion Surveillance & Monitoring

As part of our efforts to develop strategies for drug diversion prevention, the Department of Pharmacy has been working to identify software that aggregates data across our medication use processes to detect anomalous behavior and standardize investigation processes. After evaluation of multiple vendors, we have selected Bluesight ControlCheck. Through artificial intelligence and machine learning, this software mines data from multiple systems, such as our Pyxis machines, Epic, Kronos, etc., to identify patterns of behavior from clinicians to identify diversion. It will reduce what takes hours of manual data analysis to minutes. This role would support the development of a proactive and reactive auditing strategy and assist with data analytics.
A caregiver in this position works 8:00AM – 4:30PM. After successful completion of onboarding, you may work remotely one day per week.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Assist department leadership and act as a liaison between ambulatory care areas, the department of pharmaceutical services and applicable State and Federal regulatory agencies.
Ensure legislative, regulatory, rule, accreditation and Cleveland Clinic policies and procedures are consistent with respect to medication use in the ambulatory patient care setting.
Monitor and evaluate the completion of monthly inspections conducted by the site manager.
Develop and modify policies and procedures for approval by department leadership.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
A high school diploma or GED.
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) verified through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Trainee with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy. You must register as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy within 6 months of hire.
Three years of pharmacy technician experience in an inpatient hospital environment or similar environment.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program.

Physical Requirements:
Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing, reaching, stretching, and sitting for prolonged periods; manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
While walking, stooping, bending and reaching; ability to transport 240 lb. cart.
