Groupon, a global leader in local commerce, is seeking an exceptionally talented and strategic Search and Ranking Expert to join our team. This role in the Revenue Management team will serve as the commercial owner for Search and Ranking (S&R). The successful candidate will help free up executive capacity to focus on broader performance issues while drilling down into critical S&R issues, ensuring optimal business outcomes. The ideal candidate will have business experience with recommender systems, a deep understanding of how algorithms and machine learning (ML) models work, and a proven track record at an e-commerce company.
You’ll spend time on the following:
Develop and Optimize Search Algorithms: Design, implement, and continually refine search algorithms to ensure the most relevant and personalized results for Groupon users, improving search accuracy and relevance.
Enhance Ranking Systems: Develop strategies for ranking deals, products, and content to maximize visibility, user engagement, and conversion rates.
Data Analysis and Insights: Conduct extensive data analysis to understand user search behavior, identify trends, and derive actionable insights to inform search and ranking strategies.
A/B Testing and Experimentation: Design and execute A/B tests to evaluate the effectiveness of search and ranking algorithms, making data-driven decisions to optimize performance.
Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with product managers, engineers, data scientists, and UX/UI designers to align search and ranking strategies with overall business goals and product roadmaps.
Monitor Industry Trends: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in search and ranking, leveraging this knowledge to keep Groupon at the forefront of e-commerce innovation.
Performance Metrics and Reporting: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for search and ranking effectiveness, regularly reporting on progress and areas for improvement to senior management.
We’re excited about you if you have:
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in search technology, algorithm development, or a related field within an e-commerce or technology company. Experience with recommender systems and understanding of ML models is a must.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis, A/B testing, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable strategies.
Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
