The opportunity:
We are looking for an individual to underwrite in our environmental liability line of business.
What you'll be doing:
- Underwriting and servicing a growing book of business, including risk selection, coverage negotiation and pricing adequacy on new and renewable business, all in accordance with designated underwriting authorities and company guidelines.
- Reviewing and processing changes on existing accounts to maintain compliance with policy conditions and company underwriting philosophy.
- Identifying, analyzing and developing sources of new business; assisting in developing marketing strategies for new or improved products.
- Partnering with peers in other product lines to leverage multi-line opportunities.
- Establishing and maintaining superior business and service-oriented partnerships with Markel's broker clients through; regular and frequent attendance at client broker events and industry conferences.
- Maintaining market intelligence, business insurance trends and industry knowledge.
Our must haves:
- Bilingualism (English/French).
- 2-5 years’ commercial insurance experience (environmental impairment liability underwriting experience is a strong asset).
- Environmental or science-related educational experience.
- University degree; CIP or FCIP designation.
- Willingness to Travel.
- Production oriented with strong marketing skills and established partnerships with broker/distribution partners.
- Expertise and depth in policy wordings, forms and applicable coverages.
- Strong administrative skills and highly detail oriented.
- Excellent presentation skills -- comfortable speaking in front of small and large groups.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a contributing team member.
- Ability to deliver results even when working to meet tight deadlines.
- Strong business acumen and capable of representing the organization externally.
