The Opportunity

This position works out of our Arecibo location in the CRM division.

Shift: Monday to Friday 1:00 pm- 9:00 pm

As a global leader in Cardiac Rhythm Technologies, we focus on innovative technologies that can improve the way doctors treat people with heart arrhythmias, or irregular heartbeats.

As the Technician I, l you will work in a call center environment under close and direct supervision on defined work assignments while following established procedures.  You will exercise basic customer service and technical skills in response to remote monitoring inquiries and complaints from health care professionals, Abbott field personnel, patients, and various internal departments.

What You’ll Do

  • Observe and comply with all safety rules and regulations. This includes the QSR and ISO standards. Complies to all safety standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Applies a high level of technical support working in a specialized discipline such as electronics, life science, chemistry, mechanics, software, etc.

  • Uses computer applications as needed for functional specialty.

  • Performs “set-up,” tests, repair, inspection, calibration and / or corrective and preventive maintenance of all equipment in different areas (Manufacturing, Warehouse, Quality, etc.) materials, systems and / or products.

  • Basic skills in computer hardware and /or software applications such as spreadsheet creation.

  • Troubleshoots and make necessary repairs to equipment using problem solving methods as root cause analysis.

  • Reads, interprets, and may instruct others in the use of all manuals, test procedures and documentation associated with specialized equipment.

  • Uses judgment and makes choices on how to proceed.

  • Uses information from within and/or outside the organization when necessary.

  • Drafts basic procedures and technical documents.

  • Performs maintenance work orders to production equipment and systems by the assigned dues dates.

  • Reads and interprets engineering drawings, schematics and complex test procedures.

  • Working knowledge and use of complex tools and equipment specific to functional areas.

  • Performs and documents all mechanical and or electrical troubleshooting of product as required following all applicable Abbott procedures.

  • May use statistical, mathematical and other quantitative and qualitative methods and measurements.

  • Conducts failure analysis to component level, complex testing, analysis and troubleshooting; and recommends changes for process improvement.

  • May conduct basic experimental design in functional areas; and analyze new products or new applications of existing products.

  • Performs testing on prototype electrical and / or mechanical designs as needed.

  • Generate redlines for PM procedures as required.

  • Perform routine/preventative maintenance on applicable equipment and documentation in Infor EAM CMMS

  • Supports product transfer and continuous improvement projects by providing, installation, set-up, generate maintenance and calibration procedures, and execute equipment, process, and product validations.

  • Gathers information on current production equipment, tooling, and systems to determine causes or inefficiencies, errors, or proper spare stock. Coordinates purchasing and storage of necessary spare parts, tools, and fixtures to ensure production equipment and systems operates uninterruptible and in optimum conditions.  Identifies and implements continuous improvement opportunities to minimize or eliminate errors to ensure production equipment and systems operates uninterruptible and in optimum conditions.

  • Perform disposition per established documents and guides.

  • You may be required to perform other tasks, as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma required. Technical Certificate or Associate Degree in Industrial Mechanics, Electronics, Electronics & Instrumentation are preferred.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in troubleshooting equipment, building and or testing of electronic assemblies.

  • Verbal fluency in English and Spanish is required.

The base pay for this position is

$13.40 – $26.80/hour

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
