Overview:

Works closely with Strategic Initiatives team to support non-routine key initiatives.  Supports design, planning and implementation for time-sensitive, critical, programs and/or projects.  Supports facilitation of industry groups that meet regularly to share best practices and promote industry advocacy efforts.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support planning and implementing new projects, products, programs and initiatives to achieve short and long-term business objectives and strategic outcomes.

  • Lead effort to maintain project documentation.  Develop comprehensive documentation that aligns with regulatory expectations as required.

  • Assist the team in addressing problems/solutions, risks and issues.  Analyze information, determine feasible solutions, and articulate recommendations to project team.   Apply critical thinking to independently navigate problems and issues.

  • Develop and produce basic ad-hoc and automated departmental analyses and reports, including workflow, project and strategic analysis and trend reporting. 

  • Distill information and create an executive summary to drive action.

  • Adhere to all standards and procedures ensuring high quality work and that efforts are appropriately and accurately documented.

  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.  Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.

  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years’ relevant work experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 6 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 2 years’ relevant work experience

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Math, Accounting, Engineering, or Business Administration

  • Banking/financial industry experience

  • Six Sigma, Lean or Process Improvement, or project management-related education

  • Experience with SQL, programming and statistical software

  • Experience with financial, regulatory and/or process analysis, and technical writing

  • Curious and innovative

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $60,890.34 - $101,483.90 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
