Job Title:                    Medical Assistant

Dept.:                          Family Practice

Assist provider with all aspects of patient care in a family practice setting. Busy, self motivated, attention to details, compassionate with patients, and a team player with coworkers. Must have either Externship experience or over 1 year of MA experience with a medical office setting.  Experience in primary care preferred not required.

Keys to Success in this Role:

  • Perform selected nursing and administrative duties (prepare charts, patient vitals, administer injections, etc)
  • Assist in maintaining patient files and office inventory
  • Perform referrals and prior authorizations as needed
  • Answers phones
  • Check in and out patients
  • Insurance verification
  • Annual wellness visits
  • Triaging patients
  • Performing injections
  • EHR documentation
  • Perform incidental duties as needed

Job Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Graduation from a recognized training facility for Medical Assistants
  • Medical Assistant Certification preferred
  • Excellent telephone etiquette
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • At least one year of medical office experience
  • Experience working Front and Back Office preferred

Physical and Mental Demands:

 

  • Ability to maintain quality control standards.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate clearly.
  • Ability to Type 40 W.P.M to work with Electronic Medical Record software.
  • Some evening and weekend work may be required.
  • Occasionally required to life and carry items weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

Occupational Exposure:

 

  • High risk exposure to bloodborne pathogens and chemical hazards
