  • Job Description : Business System Analyst (BSA) / Product Owner (PO)

     

    BSA works with business partners within one or more business organizations to provide business solutions aligned with business strategies, understands the needs of the business users, analyzes the business requirements to determine the solution options, defines the functional requirements that will be signed off by both business and technical stakeholders, and ensures that the requirements are properly supported by the design, code, testing and final product.

  • Establishes and maintains relationship with business partners to provide effective business solutions.  5%
  • Conducts data gathering and analysis with the business users, to understand the business problems/needs and determine appropriate solutions, whether through system enhancements or changes to manual processes, and provides estimates.  Responsible for business case development and presentation.  25%
  • Analyzes, develops, conducts reviews with business and IT stakeholders, and manages sign-off of the business and functional requirements, to properly document the business problems/needs and solutions, and serve as input to design and test planning.  35%
  • Provides design and development support to the designers and developers, by clarifying requirements and resolving issues, to ensure that design and code align with the signed off requirements.  Determines valid revisions to the requirements and makes the necessary updates to the documentation.  10%
  • Provides testing support to system and user testers, by analyzing defects and handing off defect assessment to developers for resolution.  For some instances, performs actual system testing and user test coordination, by developing and conducting reviews of test plan, scenarios, and cases, based on signed off requirements.  Determines valid revisions to the requirements and makes the necessary updates to the documentation.  15%
  • Provides implementation support to the developers by facilitating the validation with the business users upon movement to production.  Provides warranty support to the developers and business users to ensure that post implementation incidents are logged, investigated, and resolved. 5%
  • Coaches and transfers knowledge to team members.  5%

 

A PO creates the product roadmap and defines the strategic vision for their team based on the overall organization’s vision. They have a deep understanding of the insurance industry, an interest in technology, and can advocate for user needs. A Product Owner manages dependencies with other teams while identifying, building, and managing strategic partnerships with various stakeholders. They work closely within their team to user feedback is translated into new developments. Product Owners will be accountable for specific business OKRs based on the team’s mission.

Set ambitious and clear product vision and communicate vision effectively to stakeholders, the team, and the organization

Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure digital vision and products align within team strategy and requirements

Prioritize and manage items in the backlog and maintain a backlog 3 to 4 sprints ahead of the team

Utilize market and industry knowledge to translate user needs into user stories and acceptance criteria for their team

Determine end-to-end team output strategy from inception to production

Accountable to release planning with stakeholders Integrate usability studies and research into product requirements to enhance user satisfaction and ensure Client-driven design

Be accountable for product-specific OKRs and communicate progress to stakeholders

Qualifications (heading) / Compétences (titre)

  • At least 6 years of BSA experience
  • At least 2 years of PO/stakeholder management experience
  • Graduate of any IT, Mathematics, Actuarial or Engineering courses
  • 1 to 2 years of delivery management exposure
