Are you interested in joining a team that will help shape and deliver the future of consumer policy at the FCA?
The Team
We are looking to recruit someone into the Consumer Policy and Partnerships team, to lead on high-profile consumer policy projects.
The team leads on a number of cross-cutting consumer issues such as vulnerability and financial inclusion as well as managing the FCA’s Consumer Network of over 30 influential consumer groups. The team also manages engagement on cross-cutting consumer protection issues with government departments and other regulators, such as the UK Regulator’s Network (UKRN) and the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC).
Our work is varied and challenging and includes working with a wide variety of stakeholders internally and externally.
The team sits in the Consumer Policy and Outcomes Department (CPO) within the Cross-Cutting Policy & Strategy Division (CCPS).
What you will be doing
Working with an existing colleague to support the Consumer Policy and Partnerships Team Manager in driving, motivating and managing a small team of committed subject matter experts
Taking on formal line management responsibilities for some team members
Driving and developing policy thinking on the approach to policy issues within the team’s remit, drawing on suitable and robust sources of data, including Financial Lives Survey data, as well as expertise and inputs from others to supplement insight
Drafting decision-making and communication documents such as governance papers, position papers, speeches and briefings
Identifying wider FCA interest and collaborating effectively to develop and co-ordinate a joined-up approach
Engaging extensively with key external stakeholders including consumer organisations, firms and industry groups
The role will be varied and dynamic. It will require creativity, lateral thinking and excellent analysis to think about how we can work with others (internally and externally) to tackle consumer policy issues in the context of a challenging economic environment.
What will you get from the role?
This is an exciting opportunity to work on cross-cutting issues which directly impact on the lives of consumers.
The role will provide an opportunity to help drive the ongoing development and delivery of a high-profile and cross-sector area for the FCA, as a key part of a passionate and high-performing team.
