Job Description Summary:

To assist in the management of the legal affairs of the Company and provide advice concerning the legal rights, obligations and privileges of the corporation, and to reduce or eliminate the legal liability of the corporation.

Job Description:

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Advise management concerning legal issues as they relate to construction operations.
  • Draft and/or oversee the development and implementation of complex contracts, and assist in contract negotiations with clients and subcontractors.
  • Develop legal opinions as necessary and provide counsel to management.
  • Advise management concerning claims and disputes with owners and subcontractors.
  • Strategize with operations, and lead teams in developing and organizing data and presentation for settlement meetings on construction disputes.
  • Represent the company in meetings with outside counsel and settlement negotiations.
  • Manage outside legal counsel.
  • Conduct research and interpret laws, rulings and regulations for implications and applicability to construction operations.
  • Conduct training classes for company personnel.
  • Oversee and perform certain discovery efforts.
  • Stay current on legal trends and best practices as it relates to construction law and corporate law, and educate operations.
  • Complete other responsibilities, as assigned.

MINIMUM SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Law degree from an accredited law school, and member in good standing in any of the following states: Texas.
  • 8-13 years of experience with a law firm or combined experience with a law firm and in-house.
  • Deep understanding of and experience applying construction law, and comprehensive understanding of construction process, methodology and documents.
  • Possess unquestionable ethics and integrity.
  • Superior analytical skills, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  • Proven leadership and management ability.
  • Strong team player and interpersonal skills, and ability to work collaboratively with diverse individuals at all levels of an organization.
  • Strong sense of accountability, integrity and taking ownership over projects and responsibilities, and resolving issues proactively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and to manage multiple demands, priorities, and projects simultaneously.
