Position Summary

Reporting to the Supervisor, Cultural Services, and working in collaboration with the Strategic Communications team, the Marketing & Partnerships Assistant supports the implementation of creative marketing initiatives for the FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton (FOACM). This position will also support revenue generation opportunities for FOACM, through advertising and show sponsorship.

Successful candidates must be able to work an average of 21 hours per week, including flexible hours consisting of day, evening and weekends.

Major Job Responsibilities

  • Assists with the implementation of the marketing strategy for the FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton

  • Creates digital content for FOACM social media platforms including Facebook and Instagram

  • Assists with the coordination of the Centre’s season launch

  • Responsible for maintaining and publishing to the FOACM website and social media, ensuring information is accurate, current and meets AODA requirements

  • Creates and implements all interior digital signage and signage throughout the building (presented and rental shows)

  • Responsible for marketing e-blasts for rental clients by gathering content from client, creating and sending newsletter

  • Researches new marketing and promotional opportunities, including working with community organizations to identify cross-promotional opportunities; make recommendations and implement promotional opportunities

  • Utilize SiteImprove for website statistical reporting purposes

  • Assist with the development of a sponsorship program for FOACM working to achieve defined financial goals

  • Implement and maintain advertising program for “Front & Centre” digital publication

  • Work closely with sponsors to foster strong relationships and develop recognition levels

  • Ensure that there are detailed, accurate, open and transparent agreements with all sponsors and funders

Education & Experience

  • Enrolment in or completion of a post-secondary degree/diploma or post-graduate certificate (Business Marketing, Advertising & Marketing Communications, Public Relations, or other related field).   

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working in an arts and culture setting

  • Two (2) years’ experience in marketing including, but not limited to, implementing digital and print promotions and market research

  • Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong problem solving skills with the ability to work well independently and in a team environment

  • Proficient in the use of email marketing and database software (e.g., Mail Chimp, Hootsuite)

  • Proficient in the use of website content management systems

  • Results-oriented, detail oriented and a proven team player

  • Ability to work well under pressure, managing multiple priorities

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office/software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

  • Proficient in the use of digital media, especially with respect to maintaining websites and social media

  • Experience in InDesign, Adobe Creative Suite and Canva products an asset

  • Strong creative skills, encourages innovative thinking and new ideas

  • Passion for arts and culture

  • A valid Ontario Driver’s License with a driving record that demonstrates responsible/safe driving behavior, as use of a personal vehicle is required
