What You Will Achieve

This is a role that requires financial expertise to undertake economic research and study the prevalent rates of return, depreciation, working capital and investment of various entities in the income statement to analyze the profit and loss statements. Your findings and recommendations will be presented to the Pfizer management team. You will develop and maintain operational specifications for financial information systems after considering the information flow, volume and document format for the data processing equipment. You will also provide business development analysis and can monitor business performance.

The R&D Finance Associate role collaborates mainly with Oncology Operating lines and Medical Affairs teams by preparing financial information (budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis) for the Oncology R&D organization. The colleague will coordinate information from various sources across Oncology R&D (ORD) to support overall financial management and planning by partnering closely with Finance Managers and Business Partners.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for providing actual and forecast support for Oncology operating lines (indirect spend), as well as Medical Affairs projects (direct spend)
  • Perform detailed analysis to support the strategic needs of Finance Managers and Business Partners, advising on the financial impact of operational decisions.  
  • Prepare business results, financial projections and analyses, identify trends, opportunities and recommendations for action to business partners
  • Coordinates budgeting and forecasting processes with business partners and other internal stakeholders to ensure quality, accuracy and timeliness of the month end close and reporting, forecasts, and annual operating plan.
  • Collates information from various sources across the Oncology organization to prepare budgets and forecasts for the organization.  Ensures accuracy of actual spend reporting and accrual balances.  Conducts analysis to assist with decision making.
  • Duties include but are not limited to the following: Monthly accruals, forecasting, budgeting, participation in the Operating Plan process, providing ad-hoc reporting (as required) and attending key business partner meetings and participation on special project teams.
  • Supports management of spend through engagement in monthly meetings, PO tracking, facilitations of amendments/change-orders, invoice-related issues, and ad-hoc requests
  • Responsible to maintain updated forecast data into Pfizer systems, likely, but not limited to, R&D Mosaic and Global Mosaic, where appropriate.
  • Ad-hoc cross-Oncology finance support as needed
  • Should have solid financial and analytical skills, a demonstrated ability to work proactively, which will further enable the candidate to advise, support and problem solve with Business Partners
  • Ensure compliance with all fiduciary responsibilities and finance policies

Required Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 1+ years of experience
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal English
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree and/or CPA
  • Relevant pharmaceutical experience
  • Knowledge of various financial systems and financial reporting aspects
  • Relevant professional skills including problem solving, project planning & delivery, attention to detail, time management, critical thinking

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $64,600.00 to $107,600.00.* In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 7.5% of the base salary.
