About the Role:

Responsible for scheduling, planning, and oversight of Grief material procurement, production, and delivery ; Work in liaison with Operations Supervisors and Team Leaders to resolve, ensure efficiency and quality within the material handling and warehousing functions. Also to work in liaison with Operations Supervisors, the Transportation and Customer Service teams.

As a Material Planner you can expect to:

  • To collaborate with the Operations Supervisor towards the supervision of a multitude of activities in the warehouse and co-ordinate to assure production schedules are met in the most efficient, accurate and safe fashion.
  • To allocate resources based on work schedule, sequence and priorities of jobs to be performed by the team in order to meet the pre-established timeline limits.
  • To support start-up meeting, to troubleshoot as required, to escalate system issues for resolution and to coordinate with the traffic and customer service teams.
  • To carry out all duties / tasks as assigned by the Operations Supervisor and to cover for the Operations Supervisors in their absence.
  • To support all 5S , Lean & CPS related initiatives and activities.
  • Coordinating flow of grief materials within the manufacturing facility. Coordinating transfer of materials (premium freight) to and from inventory or warehouse.
  • Building up and following up procurement plan realization to ensure they align with business objectives.
  • Tracking and analyzing supplier performance (Grief) metrics. Collaborating and negotiating with supplier to deliver materials per requirements.
  • Employee is also responsible for performing other job duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time to time.

  • Helps to analyze risks and benefits of alternative approaches and obtain decision on resolution.
  • Uses fact-finding techniques and diagnostic tools to identify problems.

Inventory Management - MFG: Knowledge of processes and methods of inventory management; ability to effectively manage local or distributed inventories of raw materials, work-in-progress and finished goods.

  • Follows processes to take stock, release inventory or return into processing; resolves discrepancies.
  • Tracks inventory information for a specific product group or location.
  • Works with basic tasks of inventory management for a specific location.
  • Produces basic inventory management reports for senior staff to reconcile the inventory balances.
  • Performs the receiving, ticketing, checking in and distributing of inventory items for a specific location.

Supplier Management - MFG: Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience and skills into real practice.

  • Follows procedures in carrying out routine supplier management tasks.
  • Uses electronic systems or tools to record/retrieve supplier information and carry out transactions with suppliers.
  • Resolves routine supplier issues; escalates non-routine issues up chain of command.
  • Researches alternative vendors or suppliers; participates in supplier selection.
  • Works with suppliers to ensure that purchases meet delivery date and quality specifications.

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors Degree complete or in progress
  • 1-2 years minimum experience in warehousing / distribution operations / transportation
  • 50% English written 
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, leadership potential and advanced planning techniques.
