Position Summary:
The Senior Data Analyst serves to advance and develop our quantitative capabilities to deliver analytic solutions across large and very diverse data sets leveraging our EDW and advanced analytic solutions and capabilities. Serves as a business intelligence consultant/developer in identifying, structuring, analyzing, and visualizing data, particularly focused on applying advanced methodologies to support organizational performance. Supports cross-functional stakeholders with various financial and clinical analyses and research, and participates in committees and special projects as appropriate. Possesses and further develops analytical practices and skill sets to assemble actionable information and makes recommendations on complex clinical question and develop and implement data driven strategies to support key initiatives. Manages and maintains the integrity of our source data, data movement and quality assurance, and the EDW functions, both independently and in conjunction with internal and external partners.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, engineering, statistics, mathematics or other technical concentration requiring strong analytical skills; or 4 years of equivalent education and experience
- 3 years of technical, analytical, and/or statistical role experience or 5 years of equivalent education and experience
- Advanced SQL skills with working knowledge of relational databased and familiarity with data architecture concepts
- Epic certification within 6 months of hire
Preferred
- Master’s Degree in computer science, engineering, statistics, mathematics or other technical concentration requiring strong analytical skills
- 5 years of experience in a healthcare related technical, analytical, and/or statistical role
- Experience with EHR data, preferably Epic/Clarity
Essential Job Functions:

- Models complex clinical business problems, discovers operational insights and identifies opportunities through the use of statistical, algorithmic, mining and visualization techniques supporting the organization's strategic goals and deployment.
- Resolves complex data challenges using a range of advanced SQL queries and programming; tunes and helps others with non-performing SQL statements and educates others on SQL best practices.
- Produces customized complex statistical analysis performing propensity score matching, coarsened exact matching, multivariate regression, confidence intervals, power analysis, regression modeling, etc.
- Designs and engineers subject area marts (SAM) within enterprise data warehouse in partnership with teammates to support a wide range of analytical needs.
- Supports and facilitates data operating system (DOS) and (SAM) subject area mart validation processes leveraging programming skills to optimize and creates efficiency when appropriate.
- Conducts rigorous data mining and statistically sound analytical analyses to develop and report high quality actionable and quantitative information developing standard tools, interactive dashboards, and custom analyses.
- Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results and demonstrates effectiveness of selected approach.
- Uses SQL and statistical/scientific computer languages to draw actionable insights from large data sets languages and technologies for the purpose of extracting and processing data.
- Creates impactful and dynamic data visualizations and infographics to communicate results of highly complex analysis to varying audiences both verbally and in presentation.
- Defines data and collaboratively establishes core metrics and KPIs in accordance with the objectives of the Data Analytics organization.
- Teaches and inspires other Insights & Analytics peers through knowledge sharing, pair programming, and/or giving feedback during code reviews.
- Provides leadership and expertise to best construct data and execute analysis where partnered with less skilled peers.
- Designs and facilitates training sessions to develop analytical and data warehousing skills among cross-functional peers.
- Assists in fulfilling or owning various ad hoc strategic and business reporting requests and projects.
