Responsibilities
As the Manager of the Underwriting Services team, you will:
● Manage a Mortgage Operations team, ensuring compliance with FNMA, Freddie Mac and Non-Conforming Underwriting Guidelines.
● Oversee the team responsible for ordering, reviewing and processing credit supplements, payoffs and employment verifications, ensuring timely and accurate completion of these critical tasks.
● Plan, strategize and implement operational processes to enhance efficiency and productivity.
● Ensure the team exceeds the production targets and maintains high-quality standards.
● Monitor and maintain the SLAs, introducing measures to reduce TAT, while ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
● Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize operational workflow.
● Conduct regular performance evaluation, provide coaching and foster a culture of excellence and accountability within the team.
● Work closely with Senior Manager of Underwriting Services and cross functional teams to drive initiatives of Underwriting augmentation.
About you
We are looking for a manager that can lead this team to success. We’ll be looking for the following characteristics during our search for you:
● 6+ years of experience underwriting FNMA, FHLMC, FHA and Jumbo mortgages
● 4+ years of experience managing within a mortgage operations team.
● Knowledge of 4 C’s of Underwriting.
● Experience in Post Close Audits and Pre-Close QC will be preferred.
● Strong data analysis skills with proficiency in Excel for operational tracking and reporting.
● Prior experience managing offshore teams
● Knowledge of agency underwriting product guidelines
● Familiarity with Desktop Underwriter (DU) & Loan Product Advisor (LPA)
● Strong communication, organization, and time management skills
● Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems independently
● Ability to maintain composure in a fast-paced environment
● The drive to build something new.
