About the team

We are a team of fun and skilled accounting professionals within the Controller organization who enjoy working in a congenial environment within an innovative, fast-paced tech and media company. We own revenue accounting for certain business lines, as well as support implementation of financial and billing processes related to new products and revenue streams. We work in a highly collaborative environment with teams throughout the organization, including Financial Reporting/Technical Accounting, Tax, FP&A, Billing and Collections, IT/Engineering, and Sales and Operations teams across various product lines.

SPECIFICALLY, OUR TEAM IS RESPONSIBLE FOR:
- Completing month-end close responsibilities including preparing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Participating in the annual audit and quarterly reviews performed by our auditors, including walkthroughs and the preparation of PBCs
- Finance integration of new activity, including the creation of new processes and GL close activities

About the role

Zillow Group is seeking an Accountant to join the Revenue Accounting team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting, this position is responsible for supporting various revenue products in our Rentals, New Construction, and Media business lines. This position requires knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, an interest in revenue accounting, and motivation to contribute to a constantly evolving business. Specifically, the role will:

  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations as part of the month-end close process
  • Lead investigations into and prepare flux analysis for revenue-related accounts
  • Prepare supporting documentation and ad-hoc analysis for various revenue products as needed
  • Pursue optimization and automation of existing processes
  • Cultivate cross-team relationships among Finance and business stakeholders
  • Own and operate SOX controls as necessary

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.

In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $62,400.00 - $99,600.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC and may not be applicable to other locations.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Who you are

  • BA/BS with a concentration in Finance or Accounting
  • CPA, with a solid knowledge of GAAP and experience with ASC 606 preferred
  • 2+ years’ experience in public accounting, mid-to-large-sized tech or high-growth company
  • Experience with a month-end close process preferred
  • Prior public accounting or internal audit experience, desirable
  • Strong Excel skills with an interest and aptitude for working with large amounts of data
  • Experience with Workday and/or Zuora preferred
  • Experience with Alteryx Designer and/or Tableau Prep desirable
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work with a high sense of urgency while maintaining outstanding attention to detail
  • Able to think critically and problem solve
  • Capable of prioritizing conflicting responsibilities and independently driving toward deadlines in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving, and data driven organization
