The Supervisor LP Accounting is responsible for supervision of staff who maintain the general ledger records, compliance with accounting practices and policies and preparation of internal analytical reports and monthly exhibits. You will contribute to ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and regulations of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

What You Will Do:

  • Lead all aspects of the FERC Form 6 reporting function for various legal Liquids entities on a quarterly and annual basis.

  • Coordinate the monthly GL journal entry process for various Liquids entities.

  • Supervise the earnings variance analysis for various Liquids entities & manage requests from Corporate Finance, Liquids Asset Performance and FP&A teams.

  • Oversee the accounting applications pertaining to take-or-pay contracts for Liquids pipeline companies, as well as regulatory accounting application.

  • Lead a team of 5 staff with a focus on career development of team members.

  • Responsible for supporting joint-venture accounting and annual audit requirements for relevant entities.

  • Handle requests from Calgary regulatory groups, external auditors, internal auditors and adhere to all SOx control requirements.

  • Continuous improvement and documentation of Liquids accounting related processes.

  • Support management in their execution of the operations of the company by ensuring information requirements, reporting and variance analysis are met in terms of quality, relevance, timeliness & compliance with accounting standards.

  • Maintains client focus, involved in reviewing client needs to improve quality of work and adding any required services to enhance client satisfaction.

  • Ensure sufficient guidance and appropriate tools are provided to internal customers to facilitate their compliance with governance processes and to fulfill their financial roles.

  • Accountable to oversee the identification and implementation of changes to streamline accounting practices that will increase the efficiency of the reporting processes.

  • Establish, monitor and make changes to processes to ensure adequate system of internal controls in place to effectively and efficiently mitigate risk to acceptable levels and ensure SOX compliance.

  • Support and coordinate internal/external audits.
     

Who You Are:

Required:

  • Designated accountant (CPA) with 7+ years of relevant post-qualification experience

  • Proactive and adaptable, motivated to challenge status quo and motivate change;

  • Detailed knowledge of U.S. GAAP

  • Strong project management and organizational skills, including the ability to lead multiple concurrent projects with contending priorities;

  • Strong critical thinking skills to validate and challenge information provided by various sources

  • Proven leader, strong leadership and mentorship skills, with the ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships;

  • Solid understanding of ERP and reporting systems such as Oracle and HFM

  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
