Position Title: Risk & Compliance Program Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

Reports To: General Counsel

POSITION SUMMARY
 

Manages the compliance and risk program using data to identify and set improvement priorities that will increase operational efficiencies and decrease risk to the organization. Will work in collaboration with various departments to ensure processes are properly implemented. Takes a proactive approach in mitigating risks through education and processes review with various departments on compliance requirements.  Reviews and updates organizational policies to support REHAB’s compliance program by focusing on the various regulatory requirements. Participates in various regulatory surveys as well as the dissemination of educational information to staff.  Serves as REHAB’s Compliance Officer overseeing REHAB’s corporate compliance program under the General Counsel’s oversight.  


Starting Wage: $73,322.70 - The posted wage is the current starting wage for this position. Actual wage is dependent on the applicant's relevant experience and qualifications for this position. The wage range for this position may be subject to change in the future depending on a variety of factors such as market conditions, business needs, legal developments, and other appropriate factors.
 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - an equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the required qualifications.  

 

  Certification/Licensure:

  • Risk Management and/or Compliance Certification. In lieu of such certification, minimum of five (5) years of related compliance or risk management experience.  
 

  Education:

  • Juris Doctorate degree, Masters Degree or equivalent in ethics, business administration, or related field.

  Skills/Experience:

  • Five (5) years of risk management and/or compliance experience or relevant experience in a health care setting.

  • Minimum of 2 years of director or manager experience.  

  • Leadership, supervisory, and managerial skills that include consistency, fairness, excellent communication skills, organizational skills, critical thinking, ability to work with others, and inspire and encourage staff participation and development.  

  • Ability to work directly and effectively with all levels of management within an organization.

  • Ability to educate and train staff.  

  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills. 

  • General knowledge of Medicare laws and regulations, other federal and state health laws and regulations, and tort law.  

  • Effective professional judgment and skills, such as but not limited to critical thinking, time management, transparency, and change management.  

  • Computer skills, understanding of data analysis, working knowledge of medical information systems.

  • Knowledge of Google’s G Suite, Microsoft Office and databases.


 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills/Experience:

  • Ten (10) years of hospital experience involving compliance or risk management, or five (5) years of inpatient rehabilitation facility experience involving compliance and risk management.  
  • Intermediate or expert level knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to hospital operations and, specifically, inpatient rehabilitation facility regulations.
