 HITACHI RAIL is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Manufacturing Engineer, Process Engineering and Maintenance who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Accountabilities:

  • Support or individually resolve issues related to product safety, manufacturing production processes, serve as a technical advisor to suppliers and actively participate in product development projects as a manufacturing representative.
  • Assist other colleagues as a constructive team member to ensure the success of the task at hand.
  • Research, plan and implement manufacturing process improvements or new processes.
  • Ability to process engineering changes through Hitachi's data log processing system.
  • Refine and cost reduce manufacturing processes and products.
  • Able to manage, organize and prioritize tasks.
  • Able to create written instructions and clearly and accurately provide oral instructions.
  • Lead interdepartmental problem-solving activities.
  • Computer proficient in current MS Windows operating system and applications such as MS Office.
  • All efforts will have a significant effect on quality, delivery, cost, and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Currently possesses or can acquire IPC CIT certification (or higher)
  • Collaborate with the Procurement Team to answer technical product and process inquires for vendors.
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Two (2) years of engineering experience, LEAN/Sigma continuous improvement methodology, recognition of value-add vs non-value add processes, identifying the 8 types of waste, grasp of 6S principles, experience with Industry 4.0
  • Microsoft Office experience
  • Due to this prositions support of manufacturing activity, this role will be onsite with no remote option. Typical working hours are Monday-Friday, this may vary depending on business needs with a potential requirement to work Saturday and Sunday if needed.
  • May require travel out of state or out of country for brief periods up to 25%.
  • Works onsite in Batesburg SC factory and some field assignments.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Familiarity with and capable of various manufacturing software packages such as CAD, PLM, and ERP systems.
  • Two (2+) or more years’ experience with the following manufacturing processes: printed circuit board manufacturing and assembly, electromechanical assembly, casting, forging, machining, tooling, and fixture design
  • Strong collaborative mindset.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking abilities.
  • Initiative and are freethinker with a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Willingness to step outside of your comfort zone to learn new skills.
  • Motivation to challenge yourself, others, and traditional ways of thinking via an informed vantage point.
  • Commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Enthusiasm to build effective relationships, possess exceptional communication skills and are reliable and dependable
  • Experience with Special Process control, management and training.
  • Ability to recommend and communicate DFM improvements to offsite design engineering team members.

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial, Electrical (EE or EET), or other appropriate Engineering science disciples
