Overall Purpose of the Job:

VRF & PAC Product Management Manager works in Johnson Controls – Hitachi Air Conditioning (JCH) CSP Product Management team. CSP Product Management team is in charge of defining the product strategy for all regional product lines and to deliver the product roadmap in order to reach JCH CSP growth objectives.

This position is accountable for establishing a leadership position for JCH by defining products that JCH will offer in the regions covered by this position.

Principle duties:

Market Insight/ Market Analysis:

  • Analyze markets and trends (Market demands, regulations, channels.) in order to detect the best growth opportunities for JCH.
  • Collect Voice of Customer to ensure our offering fits with customer, sales and channel requirements.
  • Collect and consolidate technical requirements such as performance, controls, refrigerant and certifications.
  • Analyze competitors’ offering.

Product Strategy:

  • Define regional VRF & PAC product strategy to achieve growth and profitability targets.
  • Envision regional VRF & PAC positioning. Ensure product innovation and differentiation.
  • Drive Gaps analysis for VRF & PAC offer in the region(s).
  • Work closely and coordinate efforts with our RDI team to develop the appropriate technology roadmap to serve our VRF & PAC product strategy.

Product Roadmap:

  • Follow our Global Product Planning Process (GP3), including best opportunities in our product development plan.
  • Conduct quantitative and financial business analysis, then present recommendations to senior management and gain approval for development of regional VRF & PAC product plan
  • Engage with manufacturing and other functional leaders to define the best manufacturing site. Engage in costing analysis.

Product Development:

  • Deliver Product Vision summarizing features, specification, cost and time to market, to Engineering team and Project Management team in order to kick off product development. Ensure targets and market requirements are fully understood by the development team.
  • Participate in the product development through Gate reviews of our Product Development Process (PDP). Always ensure that expectations of customers and channels will be satisfied.

Product Deployment:

  • Define the needs in terms of sales support tools.
  • Work with channel management team to define right channel and policy for new and existing products
  • Participate to elaborate the material (.ppt) with support of Engineering team and marketing team.
  • Participate to product launch, collect feedback of customers and channel during field events.
  • Follow new product introduction performances.

Lifecycle Management

  • Collaborate with finance to Review and understand overall portfolio performance.
  • Review and understand Market Share and Channel performance.
  • Rationalize the offerings. Detect cost down needs on existing range to meet profitability expectations.
  • Propose products improvement.
  • Define the right timing for phase out of products that don’t meet the financial targets or market expectations

Skills, requirements:

  • Knowledge about HVAC, especially VRF & PAC products.
  • Demonstrate leadership, ability to communicate with strategic thinking.
  • Demonstrate ability to navigate and build relationship in large matrix organization, across multiple cultures, multiple locations, diverse set of internal and external stakeholders.
  • A previous experience in PM, Sales or other customer facing roles is a plus.
  • Fluent English. Other languages are a plus (Chinese, Japanese especially)
  • Ability to travel.
  • Position located in Shanghai or Wuxi office
