About the Role:
Join Manulife’s Advanced Analytics team as a Data Science Intern, focusing on developing Generative AI Proof-of-Concepts (PoCs). Collaborate with data scientists to understand use cases, develop, document, and demonstrate the value of these solutions. This role requires rapid learning and adaptability.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Generative AI PoCs using Python and the Azure ecosystem with guidance from senior team members.
  • Work closely with internal users to understand needs, develop, and test data and AI-driven solutions.
  • Collect internal and external data, including structured and unstructured data, through SQL, APIs, and web crawling.
  • Process numeric data, text, images, and videos based on downstream task requirements.
  • Build PoC applications with front-end, back-end, and APIs to demonstrate to stakeholders.
  • Support ad-hoc analytics tasks as needed.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • University students eligible to work as intern in Hong Kong.
  • Preferred disciplines: Computer Science or STEM-related fields.
  • Proficiency in Python, Machine Learning, and Data Science. Previous exposure to Natural Language Processing (NLP) and/or Computer Vision (CV) is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Large Language Models, application development, and Azure or other cloud platforms.
  • Proficiency in English with good communication skills.
  • Preferred availability: at least 3 - 6 months, with minimal 4 working days per week.
