PURPOSE:

The role is a key leadership position with responsibility for Columbia Korea’s financial functions. This includes all aspects of financial leadership, including financial planning and analysis (FP&A), accounting, legal/compliance, tax, credit, treasury, and people development. The role will provide strong decision support to the Korea GM and build collaborative cross-functional relationships to implement key financial strategies and initiatives to expand the Korea business. This includes being a business partner with a growth mindset and leading and devel

oping a strong finance team.

RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES:

FP&A Leadership:

  • Performs financial planning processes, including forecast, budget and long-range planning.
  • Actively partner with the business to define and reach financial goals.
  • Drives processes to monitor, analyze and report on performance against the plan to all stakeholders, including insightful analysis and recommendations.
  • Ensures management is fiscally responsible and well-informed of financial implications of critical decisions.

Core Accounting Management:

  • Ensures timely and accurate accounting and reporting for operations in compliance with evolving local and corporate regulations and requirements.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve accounting processes to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensuring adequate internal control environment and driving culture of compliance.
  • Safeguards the company assets, including cash and inventory.
  • Evaluate and manage risk as it relates to the company reserves.

Credit and Cash Management:

  • Oversees credit department and facilitates credit interaction with other departments.
  •  Intervenes in main customer or distributor credit line issues and coordination with other involved departments.
  • Manages the local treasury team, working directly with the corporate treasury team to manage banking and credit card relationships as well as providing cash flow projections.

Decision Making Support:

  • Supports executive decision making by providing objective financial input, serving as a critical thinker and recommending appropriate courses of action.
  • Maintains a local mindset while also operating within the corporate vision to establish global alignment and approval.
  • Develops compelling financial justification (ROI modeling) for key investment projects.
  • Leads finance team during cross functional initiatives and projects to meet agreed upon deadlines and exceed financial benefits.

Business Partner:

  • Collaborates cross-functionally to contribute to the smooth flow of information, aligned business plans, and process efficiency.
  • Solutions-oriented with ability to influence business partners in matrix environment to maximize long-term, sustainable growth and profit opportunities.  

People Management:

  • Leads, coaches and supports Finance team to perform their responsibilities in the most effective and efficient way, considering strategic and operational priorities.
  • Sets personal goals and objectives, drives continued individual professional development and engages managers to succeed.
  • Drives a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and excellence of service.

REQUIREMENTS (education, experience, competencies and specific job requirements):

Experience:

  • Minimum of 15 years progressive management experience in accounting, finance, or relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of team leadership experience.
  • Prior experience working in a global consumer goods organization; retail experience strongly preferred.
  • SEC reporting and compliance experience preferred.

Knowledge/professional skill:

Education: A bachelor's degree in related field.

Language Skill: Good command of both written and spoken English and Korean.
