Overview of Role

This role will report directly into the Chief Financial Officer and be responsible for managing the financial reporting and accounting functions for North America.  This role requires a deep understanding of accounting and will involve collaborating with various departments and geographies to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Accounting Operations Management

  • Ensure all transactions are accounted for properly
  • Analyze and provide explanations for variances in financial statements and trial balance
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Lead all month-end, quarterly and year-end closing processes
  • Continuously evaluate existing processes for efficiency and controls

Revenue Recognition and Accounts Receivable

  • Liaise with North America bankers and global finance teams
  • Monthly revenue review to ensure revenue recognition rules are met
  • Manage quarterly intercompany reconciliation process with other geographies
  • Oversee preparation of all transfer pricing memos
  • Monitor A/R aging and reserve analysis

Regulatory / Audit Related

  • Ensure compliance with IFRS / GAAP and other relevant accounting standards
  • Coordinate with external auditors and regulators for mid-year review and year end audit
  • Ensure financial compliance with all FINRA rules and regulations, including timely and accurate reporting to regulatory authorities (e.g. monthly capital calculations for the FOCUS reports)
  • Oversee internal AML audit

Financial Management

  • Manage capital projections and cash flow forecasts
  • Provide financial analysis to support key business decisions.
  • Prepare analysis and data to support forecasting and budgeting processes.

Team Leadership

  • Hire, supervise, manage finance/accounting junior team

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting (minimum GPA of 3.5)
  • CPA required

Experience, Skills and Competencies Required

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience, preferably within an advisory firm, financial services firm or broker-dealer
  • Strong knowledge of FINRA regulations.  Series 27 licensed currently or will take exam upon joining
  • Proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems/ SAP knowledge a plus
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills

Expected base salary rates for this role in our New York Office will be between $140,00 and $175,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, salary offers are determined on an individualized basis and are based on a wide range of factors, including relevant skills, training, experience and education. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and our Rothschild & Co employee benefits package, successful candidates may be eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
