Position Summary
This position is with the Cruchaga Lab with research participants seen at various clinical areas including, but not limited to, the Movement Disorder Center, Memory Diagnostic Center, and Center 40 building in Brentwood, MO. Functions as a Phlebotomist and Patient Service Representative for the Cruchaga Lab.
The position requires expertise in blood drawing procedures within an outpatient laboratory environment and the ability to review informed consent documents for a genetics study. Serves as a liaison between all stakeholders and advocates for the patients’ needs.

Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Obtains informed consent.
- Performs phlebotomy procedure by identifying patient, gathers necessary supplies, verifies participant ID and tube labels, communicates with patient by describing steps of the procedure, cleans venipuncture site, utilizes personal protective equipment and obtains blood samples in a manner intended to limit patient discomfort.
- Consults PI/lab/coordinators/clinic personnel for clarification and verification of appropriateness of blood draw.
- Greets patients upon arrival, checks patient information in database and enters participant into research tracking system.
- Gains proficiency in using specimen databases to accurately input, manage, and retrieve specimen information, ensuring efficient tracking and documentation within the laboratory or research setting.
- Transports specimens to appropriate locations.
- Assists physician teams and research coordinators in completing research-related laboratory forms.
- Prepares and maintains sample collection stations by monitoring and stocking medical and office supplies. Advises Supervisor/Lead immediately regarding the malfunction of equipment or supply shortages. Assures efficient and effective functioning of the area by maintaining cleanliness and order.

Salary Range
$17.34 - $25.40 / Hourly
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University.
