Job Title: HSE Coordinator I

Position Summary

The HSE Coordinator I provides administrative and field support for health, safety, and environmental (HSE) programs. This role supports execution of established processes, including incident report processing, documentation, and coordination activities, while developing technical competency under the direction of the HSE Manager. The position does not independently manage compliance programs but contributes to maintaining operational safety and regulatory alignment.

Key Responsibilities

Program Support & Administration

  • Assist with incident reporting, documentation, and corrective action tracking

  • Support incident report processing and workflow management, including data entry, status tracking, and documentation completeness

  • Maintain organized HSE records, including inspections, training, and compliance documentation

  • Track and manage training records, schedules, and completion status

  • Support administrative components of workers’ compensation claims, including data collection and documentation

Field Support & Compliance Activities

  • Conduct routine safety inspections and audits using established procedures and checklists

  • Assist with hazard identification and reporting in operational environments

  • Support SDS management, chemical labeling audits, and general compliance activities

  • Provide support during internal and external audits or inspections

Coordination & Communication

  • Coordinate logistics for external inspections, contractors, and service providers

  • Support safety committee activities, including scheduling, note-taking, and action item tracking

  • Assist in planning and executing emergency drills, including communication and documentation

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support HSE initiatives and data collection

Work Allocation

  • 50% Administrative, documentation, and coordination activities

  • 30% Field inspections and audit support

  • 20% Training coordination, committee support, and emergency preparedness

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and documentation accuracy

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a structured environment

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills

  • Willingness to learn HSE systems, processes, and regulatory fundamentals

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-2 years health & safety experience in manufacturing, warehouse, or laboratory environments

  • Exposure to safety programs, incident reporting systems, or compliance activities

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field

Reporting Structure

  • Reports to: HSE Manager

Scope & Development Expectation

This is an entry-level HSE role intended to build foundational knowledge in safety, health, and environmental practices. The Coordinator I is expected to develop technical capability over time and may progress into roles with increased responsibility in HSE program support and coordination.
