OVERVIEW:

The Senior Manager, Corporate Development will work closely with the Director, Corporate Development & Vice President, Strategy & Corporate Development to source, prioritize, support, manage, and evaluate investments and corporate development initiatives across venture capital, joint venture, and M&A opportunities. The role will liaise with senior leaders in Finance and Strategy, as well as work with teammates across the business to develop and vet investment theses as well as manage the transaction lifecycle. 

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Evaluate Strategic Acquisition, Investment, Partnership, and other Corporate Development Opportunities:

  • Collaborate with senior leadership and external parties to evaluate potential growth opportunities through M&A, venture capital investments, joint ventures, partnerships, or other inorganic collaborations.

  • Manage day-to-day communication with portfolio companies from venture investments and act as portfolio manager to drive value from DSG to portfolio startups.

  • Develop quarterly reporting materials to provide update to executive management on DSG Ventures portfolio company progress.

  • Partners closely with Strategy, Finance, and Business teams to identify and source opportunities based on DSG’s strategies and long-term growth opportunities.

Provide Strategic Analysis & Modeling Support for Corporate Development Evaluation/Decision Process:

  • Assist in development of valuation models for acquisitions, joint ventures, or divestitures.

  • Drive analysis and the impact from financing rounds on pro forma capitalization tables.

  • Synthesize insights into actionable strategic recommendations.

  • Support due diligence and development of comprehensive investment case.

  • Work closely with Finance, Strategy, and Business teams to develop and monitor business and financial plan post-transaction.

Transaction Life Cycle Management

  • Manage transaction lifecycle including sourcing, execution of deals, and development of a post-merger integration/management plan.

  • Review basic transaction documentation, from NDAs, IOIs, LOIs, term sheets and definitive agreements.

  • Collaborate with Legal and Finance to structure and execute transactions.

Liaise with External Partners to Support Corporate Development Work:

  • Organize quarterly reviews with key investment banking partners.

  • Partner with internal and external resources to remain up-to-date on macro consumer trends and to source opportunities.

  • Engage as a member of a cross-disciplinary team.

Market & Competitive Research:

  • Conduct thorough market research and industry analysis to identify trends and potential acquisition targets.

  • Analyze competitive landscapes and assess potential risks and opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related business field

  • 3 -5 years of specific experience in investment banking, private equity, venture capital, or related field; retail or consumer experience a plus

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, including complex financial modeling and data analysis

  • PowerPoint and ability to create impactful presentations that are Board-ready

  • Outlook

  • Other BI and analysis tools a plus (PowerBI, Tableau, etc)

  • Experience in retail, consumer products, apparel, or other consumer-focused industries is a plus

  • Experience driving cross-functional groups and influencing key partnerships to provide deliverable(s)

  • Ability to build & maintain a network of relationships to facilitate deal flow

  • Demonstrated success in presenting to executive- and C-Suite level audiences

  • Ability to adhere to tight deadlines while managing rapidly shifting priorities

  • Exercise independent critical thinking and business insight with an emphasis on analytics & strategy to make decisions
