Job Summary

Set up, test, and analyze test results of motors/systems to Agency specifications as well as assist with updating and fabrication of automated test equipment in an ISO 17025 Accredited Test Lab

Job Description

Responsibilities: 

  • Follow procedures to perform operational tests on electric motors in various labs 
  • Run tests in the heat lab to determine: the max temperature for safe operation, safety measures within the motor, and how the engine performs under preset conditions 
  • Run performance tests to ensure motors operate according to specifications  
  • Use an automated program to select and test motors on test fixtures 
  • Setup and run tests on manual test boards and collect data using Excel 
  • Assist with lab maintenance such as calibrating test equipment and cleaning lab stations 
  • Prepare thermocouple wire for applications to motors (roll, strip, and weld) 
  • Attach thermocouple wire to motors to measure temperature 
  • Unbox and check motors into the lab. 
  • Lift motors (up to 50 pounds) and secure them in a test fixture for testing 
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on electrical/mechanical test fixtures. 
  • Complete lab and testing orders on time 
  • Assist engineers with troubleshooting motor issues via deconstruction or testing 

Additional Job Details

Experience/Skills: 

  • Associate’s or technical degree 
  • 0-2 Years of experience 
  • Ability to make spreadsheets and graphs 
  • Knowledge of Programming TLC devices 
  • Desire to learn new processes and systems 
  • Work as a supportive team member 
  • Familiarity and ability to effectively use electronic test equipment – multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc. 
  • Good hands-on skills such as soldering, welding, and mechanical assembly. 
  • Ability to collaborate with multi-functional teams. 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. 
  • Good communication (written and verbal) and organization skills. 
  • Solid interpersonal skills and team orientation. 
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills.
