What we want

The Program Coordinator for Forensic Simulation at Texas A&M College of Nursing plans, organizes, coordinates, and manages the day-to-day simulation course(s) activities. Manages all simulation activities such as scheduling of simulations, preparation and clean-up for simulation courses, recruiting of standardized patients, development of standardized patient education, scheduling standardized patients, evaluating standardized patients, scheduling and overseeing mobile simulation, requests, schedules forensic nursing coaches for simulation courses, and compiles various reports. Assists with development of simulation scenarios. Upholds the Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice™ during all simulation activities and upholding the Association of Standardized Patient Educators (ASPE) Standards of Best Practice when utilizing standardized patients.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Two years of experience with program/project management, events planning/management, simulation, healthcare, education, technology or other related areas.

Required Licenses and Certifications

  • Obtain Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator or Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist certification within two years of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health, project management, or communications-related field.

  • Greater than one year of program/project management, events planning/management, simulation, healthcare, education, or technology.

  • Valid State of Texas driver’s license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.

  • Experience with performing as a Standardized Patient or Medical Teaching Associate.

  • Experience working with individuals and communities.

  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator, Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist, or Project Management Professional certification.

  • Direct customer service experience.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Teams. Knowledge of/experience with audio/visual software, including CCTV technologies and microphones.

Responsibilities

Coordination and Operations of Forensic Simulation Program  

  • Plans and organizes activities for forensic simulation education courses and mobile simulation.

  • Collaborates with team to schedule forensic simulation courses and mobile simulation events.

  • Schedules forensic nursing coaches and standardized patients to participate in the forensic simulation courses.

  • Interacts with participants in forensic simulation courses to respond to questions and inquiries.

  • Maintains participant database.

  • Attends and participates in team meetings.

  • Maintains the assigned physical space and supplies.

  • Prepares for each forensic simulation course, pulling and setting up equipment, ensuring examination rooms are stocked with supplies necessary for the particular course, and coordinates with faculty/staff based upon the number of attendees.

  • Cleans after each simulation course. Restocks/reorders supplies, ensure laundry is cleaned and ready for the next course or event.

  • Develops and maintains competency in specialized software platforms maintained by forensic nursing. 

  • Maintains expertise in specialty through continuing education and practice.

  • Compiles reports and program statistics as necessary.

  • Plans and implements programs and assists with their evaluation.

  • Assists with teaching continuing education activities (if employee is a Registered Nurse).

  • Always maintains Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice™.

Standardized Patient Program Planning and Operations

  • Recruits individuals to work as standardized patients—gynecological teaching associates and male urogenital teaching associates.

  • Coordinates and implements functions for the standardized patient program, including recruiting, training, scheduling, and evaluating standardized patients.

  • Coordinates implementation of standardized patient encounters, digital audio/video recordings, student debriefings, evaluation of standardized patients, performances, and checklists.

  • Develops and implements training of standardized patients to specific cases for performance.

  • Provides direct customer support as appropriate.

  • Participates in TeleSim events.

  • Travels to other sites as needed.

  • Maintains the Association of Standardized Patient Educators (ASPE) Standards of Best Practice when utilizing standardized patients.

  • Plans and implements program events as needed and assists with their evaluation.

Technology

  • Manages audio/visual recording equipment and viewing equipment.

  • Schedules and prepares for recording sessions.

  • Troubleshoots issues with recording equipment.

  • Assists faculty with virtual reality activities.

  • Manages immersive simulation environment.

  • Maintains hologram and virtual reality equipment.

Other Operational Activities

  • Maintains task trainers.

  • Conducts inventories and orders supplies.

  • Collects data and compiles reports as needed.

  • Ensures training areas are clean and ready for learners at all times.

  • May provide input into the Center's strategic planning activities.

  • Monitors budget for programs and events as needed.

  • Reconciles SP invoices and submits for payment.
