Job Summary

The Senior Specialist focuses on increasing value, eliminating waste, lowering costs, and improving service in the Distribution Centers (DCs). The Senior Specialist actively seeks continuous improvement opportunities and defines optimal solutions, working closely with distribution center teams, contractors, and other members of the organization. This is a hands-on role with on site presence required 70% of the time.

Section A – Specific Responsibilities

  • Works in close collaboration with the DC teams, evaluates financial results and other performance & service indicators in the discovery of inefficiencies in day-to-day operations and challenges and define optimal solutions.

  • Applies lean methodology expertise for warehouse wide deployments, leveraging tools such as 5s, Kaizen, A3, standard work, value stream mapping and problem solving.

  • Develops value stream maps that will track the flow of material and information from suppliers to customers and identify waste within the processes to increase value, speed and quality.

  • Develops continuous improvement roadmaps and reports on milestones and successes.

  • Leads or participates in workshops and kaizen events.

  • Develops and uses appropriate measurements, analysis, and evaluation methods to accurately identify and document process improvements financially.

  • Drives process standardization to ensure success in meeting objectives.

  • Contributes to the development of new process training materials and participates in the training of warehouse personnel across all DCs.

  • Support change management communication and operations related to optimization and distribution transformation projects

  • Improves information flow and traceability between the DCs and other members of the supply chain.

  • Leads periodic continuous improvement site reviews both internally and as part of regional roll ups.

  • Provides mentorship to the leadership team and actively supports the creation of a culture of Continuous Improvement.

  • Collaborates with peers to achieve improvement goals across the national distribution network.

  • Works with the OPEX and operations teams to develop and implement optimum flow, storage and layout solutions (for new products, process changes and as continuous improvement for existing flows).

Section B – Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management (operations, logistics, supply chain), Engineering or related field

  • Experience in a similar position

  • Project management experience

  • Understanding and experience in warehousing and distribution is an important asset

  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification preferred

  • Ability to actively listen, observe and engage others

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills in order to effectively source information, obtain approvals, build relationships, and provide sufficient influence to achieve success

  • Critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills; proactive nature and willingness to challenge existing processes and propose new solutions

  • Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects (properly allocate resources, manage cost, set strategies, and deliver according to timelines)

  • Ability to work on various shifts to accommodate distribution center needs

  • Fluent in French or English. Bilingualism - an asset

  • Ability to travel within the region.

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$90,700 - $151,100
