Caterpillar Inc. seeks Autonomy Sr. Engineer at its facility located at 1245 Folsom Street, San Francisco, CA 94103.

 Focus on positioning and localization, collaborate with team members to prototype, and bring to production algorithms that enable autonomous and semiautonomous systems to localize robustly within the world around. Include estimating position and altitude absolutely but also relatively to terrain features and static or mobile equipment, and implementing filters using perception-based, inertial, and GNSS inputs. Everyday work with the team to solve real world problems by selecting the right approach, developing quick prototypes, and bringing them to production. Participate in various aspects of the development process including design, documentation, coding, product quality, and validation. Should be a self-starter, highly motivated, able to learn at an accelerated pace, and willing to put in the time to get the job done. Excel in the role, must be able to write and test high quality production code and enjoy solving challenging problems. Research and design of localization algorithms and software. Develop production quality C++software including design, documentation, coding, product quality, and validation. Support requirements generation and architecture decisions and tradeoff s for the localization architecture Support functional safety software design and validation process. Collaborate with localization team members to execute on goals.

REQS: This position requires a bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or a related field and 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer, Robotics Engineer, or related occupation in the Robotics and/or Autonomous solution experience illustrating deep technical domain or related software field. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) C++ software development; (2) Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM); (3) Robot Operating System (ROS); (4) Developing autonomous driving algorithms; and (5) Python Software Development.

Telecommuting: 50% Telecommuting allowed. Must live within 60 miles of Caterpillar Autonomy work facility.

RATE OF PAY: $ 163,696.00 per year

Summary Pay Range:

$119,160.00 - $193,680.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
