The Refrigeration Roundsman will inspect and monitor the Utilities Systems Components and identification of potential abnormal conditions which would be reported to the Refrigeration Technicians/Mechanic and/or Supervisor for further corrective action.

Core Responsibilities

  • Understand the basic refrigeration and steam process and process flows.

  • Understand system control set points and safe operating parameters.

  • Understands plant operating temperature requirements for general area as well as process critical systems and steps to alert technicians/supervisor for correction (i.e. Quick Chill, Hog Carcass Coolers, Pet Food Chilling Systems).

  • Understand normal system conditions, operating phases, and steps to alert technician/mechanic and or supervisor that corrections are needed.

  • Understands the basic functions of equipment and overall safety systems (e. engine room ammonia detection, ventilation, e-stop, high liquid level, high pressure cut outs, SRV's, fire protection - alarms).

  • Follow safe program and work practices.

  • Maintain open and professional line of communication with maintenance and operations.

  • Follow food safety and good manufacturing practices.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), required.

  • Basic computer skills and the ability to work independently are also required for this position.

  • Applied Math Skills.

  • Mechanical aptitude and ability.

  • This is a full time hourly position; all applicants should be willing to work all shifts (days/evenings/nights), extended hours and weekends.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.

  • The employee is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.

  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

  • The Employee must be capable of passing a Pulmonary Function Test.

  • Capable of meeting the physical requirements of HAZMAT Technician.
