As the Senior Manager of Trade Compliance, you will lead a small team of subject matter experts who assist the company with its strategic and business objectives while identifying and complying with export, import, and prohibited trade practice laws and regulations within a fast-growing company. Working within our Enterprise Risk Management program, you will help us mature the Trade Compliance process.

In this role, you will not only be responsible for the team’s growth and success but also have ample opportunities for your own professional development. You will interact with internal stakeholders to draft, recommend changes to, and assist with implementing and auditing relevant policies and procedures. Your role will also involve corresponding with regulating agencies, classifying items according to export and import control lists, identifying risk mitigation strategies, and leading internal investigations and associated remedial efforts across the enterprise. This position will report to the Chief Risk & Trade Compliance Officer Chief Counsel, Regulatory Affairs & Compliance, offering you a chance to learn from and contribute to our senior leadership.

This position will be based in Kent, WA.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and continuously improve our trade compliance program for International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and Federal Trade Regulations (FTR) 
  • Oversee the training and awareness to build a culture of compliance throughout the company.
  • Special issues and projects as planned and directed.
  • Review and continually improve internal company policies and procedures for trade compliance.
  • Anticipate and drive improvements to the Trade Compliance strategy as the company’s risk profile evolves and rapidly scales up with the company’s assets and operations. Effective relationships with Business Units and Functions to enable their business goals are achieved in a compliant manner.
  • Collaborate with other teams, such as Enterprise Technology, Corporate Communications, and HR, to develop and execute recommendations.
  • Effectively manage business relationships with outside counsel and outside regulatory agencies
  • Effectively interface with the Legal & Compliance team

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10+ years of combined industry and managing experience, specifically focusing trade compliance
  • Broad expertise in regulatory compliance and use of federal compliance portal systems, including DECCS, SNAP-R, and AES
  • Strong familiarity with the International Traffic In Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulation (EAR), Foreign Trade Regulations (FTR), and classifying according to U.S. Commerce Control List (CCL) and the U.S. Munitions List (USML)
  • Prior direct experience leading and resolving multiple parallel noncompliance investigations and formulating and implementing associated mitigations and remedial actions and training
  • Experience developing policies, procedures, and training materials
  • Strong English-language communication skills, both written and spoken
  • Self-starter mentality, ability to work independently, take action and deliver results, exercising high-level judgment in the absence of explicit direction
  • Ability to travel up-to 20% of the time, including internationally, as may be necessary
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

  • Accustomed to working with a customer focus in a high demand environment

  • Experience drafting and implementing audit procedures
  • Familiarity with classification according to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS)
  • Familiarity with submissions to the Defense Office of Prepublication and Security Review (DOPSR)


 

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $165,672.00-$231,940.80

Other site ranges may differ
