McKesson Technology has Enterprise Portfolio Services which is a centralized function to 1) enable consistent portfolio management 2) build and mature project and program management capabilities and 3) drive project management rigor and standards to enable value realization from investments.

This role will be a key member of the Enterprise Portfolio Services leadership team. The individual will be responsible for leading a team of portfolio leads and serve as an overall portfolio lead to an assigned business area or function. The individual in this role will need to be able to operate within a high level of ambiguity, remain calm under pressure and help establish structure and focus.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead portfolio intake and prioritization between the Business unit & the delivery teams, ensuring alignment with business strategy.
  • Drive connectivity between delivery teams, finance partners and other portfolio leads, influencing decisions to achieve successful business outcomes.
  • Facilitate creation of business case including financials for new initiatives in partnership with service managers, ensuring clarity and alignment with key stakeholders.
  • Monitor and track the portfolio health, progress, interdependencies with other teams, and identifies impacts and recommends sequencing of the work
  • Analyzes data on projects, resources, and workloads and derives actionable insights for the service managers and the senior leadership.
  • Establish and facilitate regular portfolio reviews to ensure visibility to execution progress, financials, capacity challenges, project risks and outcomes/value.
  • Ensure quality of portfolio data within the portfolio tool
  • Drive adoption of the portfolio tool with assigned teams, by providing communication and support on processes and expectations. 
  • Understand capacity constraints across the delivery teams, drive visibility and facilitate alignment of priorities and trade-offs needed.
  • Provide aggregate reporting on portfolio health and prepare information for executive presentations in a digestible and crisp format.
  • Establish structure, clarity and connect the dots across multiple teams, while employing standard ways of working with other portfolio leads.
  • Coordinate staffing of projects with project managers and ensure PMs are following standard PM methodology and rigor to ensure delivery excellence.
  • A critical element is executive communication. You will be expected to flex between tactical project level conversations and strategic portfolio conversations and adapt communication to the audience.
  • Responsible for PSaS Portfolio Strategy and Annual Budget Planning

Minimum Requirements

  • Typically requires 10 + years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree or 8+ years with a Master’s degree.
  • Require at least 5+ years of people management.
  • Require at least 5+ years of portfolio/program management experience.
  • Requires at least 3+ years of experience within a technology focused area (digital transformation, application development, data analytics, infrastructure, etc.)

Critical Skills and experiences

  • Experience overseeing large portfolios and driving strategic alignment, prioritization, managing their investments & value realization, preferably within technology space, but general technology experience coupled with business portfolio management is acceptable.
  • Program management leadership experience, both directly leading large programs (not project management) and program/project managers.
  • Experience with deriving analytics and insights from complex data and providing direction to the team.
  • Experience delivering results by collaborating and influencing business and technology delivery teams in a highly matrixed organization.
  • Exceptional executive presentation, communication, and influence management skills
  • Proven stakeholder management skills & building credibility with executive leadership.
  • Ability to intentionally flex between strategy and detail and adapt style to different levels of the organization.
  • Experience driving organizational transformation and change management.
  • Ability to make complex concepts simple and convey it in layman’s terms
  • Demonstrated ability to establish collaborative relationships and move with speed while bringing people along.
  • High degree of emotional maturity and ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.

Additional Knowledge & Skills desired but not required

  • Experience working within a Business Unit is desirable
  • Experience working in large matrixed organizations is highly desirable
  • Experience working with portfolio tools (Planview, etc.) is desirable
  • Experience in a highly regulated industry is desirable
  • Certification(s) in SAFe Agile, Prince2 / APM, PMP and/or Lean Six Sigma desirable.

Education
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$160,700 - $267,800
