Job Description :
Experienced governance, risk and control professional who proactively supports a diverse portfolio of risk-related programs to effectively manage and mitigate operational/ regulatory risk and drive a strong governance and internal control environment. Your ability to analyze, organize and prioritize will be foundational to your success in the role. You will act as a subject matter expert and develop and maintain a robust understanding of governance and control requirements. Your strong ability to work with multiple stakeholders and form positive working relationships will be key.
The role will identify, manage, measure and monitor current and emerging risks in day-to-day activities and support testing to operational & regulatory key controls to meet business governance and control objectives. You will design, implement and maintain appropriate mitigating controls, and assess the design and operating effectiveness of those controls, provide insightful advice and independent challenge.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Governance, Risk and Control, accountabilities include ensuring effective execution of the enterprise 1B Mandate and Standard across Corporate functions, with specific focus on the Risk Management organization. As a key member of the team, you will:
Execute, lead, and support initiatives to identify and assess risks and control, develop strategies to remediate gaps identified, and implement processes to effectively manage and mitigate risk
Conduct ongoing testing of key controls/requirements for all TD Finance businesses across all testing programs, e.g., pRCSA testing, General Ledger Account Reconciliation and Attestation testing, other projects and engagements. Prepare documentation of testing results, as required by internal operating procedures. Ensure that exceptions are appropriately analyzed, reported, and tracked to resolution
Drive a strong governance and internal control environment and perform effective challenge by executing on enterprise control and governance frameworks, including (but not limited to) pRCSA standards, TDBG General Ledger (GL) Account Reconciliation and Attestation Policy
Proactively identify opportunities to strengthen and improve processes and controls
Promote awareness, understanding and ownership of operational/ regulatory risk, key risk drivers and mitigation strategies
Provide leadership team with information, reporting and support to ensure operational risks are appropriately managed and adherence to internal policies and procedures is effective
As a trusted advisor to internal business partners, recognize and anticipate emerging trends, identify issues/opportunities, and recommend actions to senior management
Assist in the development of Design and Operating effectiveness of Testing programs that will effectively and efficiently detect gaps in internal processes/controls. Understand and apply sampling methodology in accordance with TD sampling guidelines
Assist in the identification of opportunities to improve processes, identifying and realizing efficiencies in testing (where possible)
Identify and manage risk in day to day operations and new initiatives
Participate fully as a member of the team, support a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation and teamwork
Keep others informed and up-to-date about the status / progress of testing and / or all relevant or useful information related to day-to-day activities
Contribute to team development of skills and capabilities through mentorship of others, by sharing knowledge and experiences and leveraging best practices
Growing, evolving and executing on all aspects of the 1B testing program
Job Requirements :
MUST have experience in quality control testing, compliance testing, internal audit or 1B roles in Governance, Risk and Controls
Operational Risk Management QA/QC and/or pRCSA experience is an asset
Able and comfortable presenting findings, summaries and recommendations in a coherent and comprehensive format
Strong organizational skills and attention to details
Results driven through commitment to accountabilities/goals
Must be a conceptual and analytical thinker with the ability to use creative and inductive reasoning
Proven skills in assessing and prioritizing based on business impact, need and risk factors
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including writing concise business messages, documents, creating impactful presentations, and presenting analysis to management and senior executives
Proven ability to work with and build strong relationships with stakeholders and colleagues
Independent thinker with exceptional analytical skills and strong business acumen
Strong prioritization and time management; ability to meet critical milestones
