Job Title: Veterinary Surgeon - GP 

Salary: up to £48,000 per annum (depending on experience)  

Location: St Clair’s veterinary Kirkcaldy  

Job Type: Full-time, temporary Maternity Cover (part time considered) 

 Hours: 40, 4 -day week, 1:4 weekends (Saturday morning) with day off in lieu, No OOH’s,                              

 

 Your role and responsibilities 

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic, all-rounder vet, who enjoys all elements of small animal work to include consulting, routine surgery plus involvement in urgent and emergency cases as needed.

Duties may include: 

  • Building strong relationships with clients and focusing on preventative health care. 

  • performing high-quality medicine and surgery. 

  • Work closely with the Lead Vets and Senior Leadership Team to help drive the clinic forwards. 

  • Minimising client complaints and dealing with any that arise. 

  • Ensuring we are delivering quality patient and client service.

About us 

 

St Clair Vets are a busy Primary Care, small animal practice, RCVS accredited, with 2 branch surgeries. We are working closely with our in- House Ophthalmology referral vets, who are based at the Kirkcaldy veterinary centre. Our practice has long history in caring for pets in our community and we pride ourselves on providing the absolute best care and service for our pets and their owners.  

 

Our wonderful Team is important to us, and we pride ourselves in supporting each team member in their personal and professional journey. 

 

We enjoy being part of our communities and participate in local events, like Race for life to raise money and encourage team members to take part. St Clair Vet also holds regular social events including Bake offs, Easter Egg hunts, Munro climbing and the famous annual Christmas party. 

 

As an Associate at St Clair Vet, you will be joining a friendly and enthusiastic, large, team of vets across our sites. Across the group we also have an experienced nursing team (including certificate holders in ECC and Exotics) & a wonderful client care team who support us daily.  

 

Here at St Clair Vet, we offer fantastic ophthalmology referral, and orthopaedic surgery and medicine services, but we equally champion our primary care vets, and the fantastic service we offer for routine and first opinion caseloads. 

As a team, we often discuss clinical cases and have monthly team meetings to share knowledge and communications. It is important to us that each team member has a voice and is heard. 

 

We work closely with VSS, a local referral centre, who support us with additional in-house CPD events and with difficult cases.  

 

Our variety of experience levels means that we have been able to offer a fantastic new graduate programme that offers great support. We are a nurse training practice and work closely with local universities & training colleges too. In your spare time, there is a lot to enjoy locally. St Clair Vet is based in wonderful Fife, close to Edinburgh to enjoy some city life and close to the Cairngorms for hiking adventures and the sea for beach walking and water activities. We have excellent travel links, access to good schools and beautiful countryside.
