Job Summary 

As a Title Examiner/Abstractor at Homestead Title Agency, the affiliated title company of Fischer Homes, you will be performing title examinations by reviewing and summarizing land records, including deeds, mortgages, judgments, liens, and assessments. Persons with real estate experience as a Paralegal or similar position with a desire to learn title examinations are highly encouraged to apply.

These skills will be used to:  

  • Perform accurate and timely title examinations for real estate closings by reviewing the public record online and/or in person, including deeds, mortgages, judgments, liens, and assessments. 
  • Draft title reports, title commitments, title documents, and title policies. 
  • Prepare, review, and record legal and title documents, including deeds, mortgages, and title policies. 
  • Identify and cure title issues to ensure insurable title, including legal descriptions, easements, lot splits, vesting, tax liens, abstracts of judgment, bankruptcies, boundary disputes, encroachments, etc. 
  • Secure documents that may be required to issue title insurance. 
  • Comply with all applicable laws, underwriting standards, industry standards, best practices, and Homestead policies when performing duties and making decisions. 
  • Work closely with internal and external partners to perform responsibilities.  

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • 2-3 years of title examination experience in Greater Cincinnati and/or Northern Kentucky, or desire to learn same. 
  • Knowledge of real estate closings, the title insurance industry, and/or related fields. 
  • Persons with real estate experience as a Paralegal or similar position with a desire to learn title examinations are highly encouraged to apply. 

Physical Demands and Work Environment:  

  • Must have use of sensory skills to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through use of the telephone and face-to-face contact. 
  • Have the capability to effectively use and operate various items of office-related equipment such as but not limited to the computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. 
  • Be able to sit for long periods of time with low periods of reaching and standing.
