ASM Global, a leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, seeks a Senior Operations Manager to oversee all facets of day-to-day operations, event setups, and housekeeping at GCCC.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Operational Leadership: Provide strategic oversight and leadership for Operations Coordinators and staff. Coordinate work plans and staffing for event support, ensuring operational efficiency and guest satisfaction.
  • Training and Safety Programs: Develop and implement comprehensive training and safety programs for all Operations employees. Serve as the primary coordinator for training initiatives to enhance team capabilities and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
  • Strategic Planning and Meetings: Lead daily facility operations planning meetings with Operations Coordinators and conduct regular staff meetings. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize facility operations and enhance service delivery.
  • Staff Management: Manage recruitment, interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management of Operations staff. Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and support.
  • Inventory and Resource Management: Oversee requisitioning supplies, maintain equipment and supply inventory controls, and manage shortages effectively. Quote and purchase as required within the area of operations.
  • Waste Management Oversight: Ensure operational oversight and responsibility for GCCC Waste Management, including monthly diversion reports, vendor relations, and employee/vendor training.
  • Event Document Review and Support: Review event documents for operational issues and recommend solutions. Provide operational event support at weekly production meetings, pre-conferences, and site visits to ensure seamless execution.
  • Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination: Assist in overseeing activities of vendors, subcontractors, and municipal services. Collaborate to support event requirements and maintain facility operations.
  • Budget Recommendations and Management: Submit recommendations for operating, capital maintenance, and capital equipment budgets. Monitor expenditures to align with operational goals and fiscal responsibility.
  • Equipment Maintenance Programs: Develop and monitor equipment preventative and corrective maintenance programs in collaboration with the Director of Operations. Perform direct repair work as required to maintain operational readiness.
  • Departmental Coordination: Collaborate effectively with department Managers, Coordinators, and Supervisors to coordinate activities and ensure seamless operations across departments.
  • Payroll and Compliance: Process payroll, complete labor allocations, and manage labor expenses efficiently. Enforce employee safety (including PPE), dress code, grooming standards, and coordinate departmental OSH training programs.
  • Performance Management: Conduct regular reviews of Operations Coordinators and staff members. Set performance goals and objectives, ensuring all work meets established standards of excellence.
  • Policy Enforcement and Discipline: Establish and maintain sub-department rules of conduct. Administer appropriate disciplinary actions when necessary to maintain a productive and positive work environment.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all work is completed on time and meets established standards of quality. Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge: Solid understanding of event conversion, housekeeping procedures, and facility management practices within a public assembly or commercial facility. High school diploma/GED required; Bachelor’s degree in facility management, resource management, hospitality, or related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of five years in a senior supervisory or facility management leadership role, demonstrating proficiency in managing multiple responsibilities with minimal supervision. Proven crisis management experience is advantageous.
  • Skills/Aptitudes: Strong problem-solving, planning, organizational, and logistical skills. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written). Ability to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders and work collaboratively.
  • Working Conditions: Comfortable with exposure to adverse weather conditions, cleaning chemicals, and flexible/irregular hours (including evenings, weekends, and holidays) to ensure comprehensive department coverage and goal achievement. Physical ability to lift up to 75 pounds, perform bending, stooping, climbing, and operate industrial equipment.
