To propose a strategic merging of Online Faculty Services and WorldWide Student Life, a new office of Online Faculty and Student Services will be developed to meet the objectives below and benefit the University’s retention efforts.
Job Description
Objectives:
- To provide efficient departmental operations including online course scheduling for undergraduate and graduate programs in conjunction with the colleges
- Streamlined online student programming including webinars, departmental offerings, and meetings
- Maintain Online Student Advisory Council
- To bridge the communication gap between online students and online full time and adjunct online faculty, programs, and colleges
- Collaborate with other departments within Academic Affairs to ensure online services are being utilized for all full time and adjunct faculty and students
- To align with the college’s strategic plan to boost student retention and student outcomes
- Promote high quality academic programs
- Foster efficient faculty services for online full and adjunct faculty
- Provide online faculty and students with a clear understanding of Saint Leo University’s teaching and learning expectations
- Connect online full time and adjunct faculty to professional growth and development through the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Strategic planning for the Office and oversight by the Director
- Clearly define tasks for Director and AD who are cross-trained in both areas of student and faculty services
- Enlisting the assistance of student or part workers would focus on scheduling assistance, peer to peer support (proving to be a positive force in student retention), survey and data collection, virtual event implementation, resource sharing, and marketing
- Collaboration between Program Department Chairs and Directors and the online full time and adjunct faculty who teach in these programs
- The new Office will work with online undergraduate and graduate students and faculty
- The new Office will collaborate with online Student Success Coaches for undergraduate and graduate programs
Duties and Tasks:
- Serve as a conduit between all adjunct faculty and deans, department chairs, and center directors
- Design and deliver training for all new adjunct faculty in conjunction with CTLE
- Responsible for implementation and support of a university-wide adjunct mentoring program
- Supervise adjunct faculty orientation and delivery of course materials
- Deliver professional development training, meetings, webinars, etc. for continuous improvement
- Communicate with adjunct faculty regularly
- Analyze, synthesize, and evaluate adjunct faculty performance (from prior term and reviews it in terms of past performance)
- Responsible for hiring adjuncts on-ground and/or online
- Responsible for overseeing the completion of performance improvement plans for adjuncts in conjunction with department chairs and directors and college deans who will conduct the PIP
- Determine further teaching opportunities for adjunct faculty based on their performance in conjunction with college deans
- Work with VPAA to periodically revise adjunct faculty policies and procedure manuals
- Responsible for follow-up on syllabi review and course observations to ensure content and quality meet or exceed standards in conjunction with college deans
- Will attend and have duties as assigned with the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence Advisory Group
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Earned master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution required, preferably in an education related field
- Experience in a higher education setting
- Detailed knowledge of academic policies and procedures
- Knowledge of academic, SACSCOC standards
- Knowledge and experience with on-ground and online learning
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Office Suite and the Internet, Teams, Zoom, and willingness to learn other university data base programs
- A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience managing student or faculty operations preferred in a university setting
- Ability to collaborate and communicate with students, faculty, staff, and community partners
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:
- Earned master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution required
- Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- This is a campus based program with opportunities for remote work; It will require long periods of sitting at a computer, attending zoom or in-person meetings, and telephone work
